In a lighter announcement than usual, Callum and I have made tacos in Aiya. The meat is beef, though requests for others can be made as well. I am trying to convince him to make ones with lamb in an experiment.

Anyone who wishes to partake of them is welcome to them.

[Because that is clearly the most important bit going on here.]

I am of the mindset that sharing food of our different homes is a way to come closer together as a group even loosely.

We do not have to like one another or agree on the large issues, but we can find a level of common ground between us.

In that light, what sort of things are common where you are from?

Yeah! Man. A lot of the usual menu in there's the sorta things that, uh, the original place back in Inaba served... the beef bowl, the one with the huge pile of meat on top of the rice and the egg on top, that was the special. Noodles, dumplings...
But in general ... huh. One thing I ain't seen in many places is sushi - uh, the little rice rolls with the veggies or fish on them? Or there's onigiri, bigger rice balls with all kinds of stuff in the middle. Nabe, that's soup hotpots with all kinds of meat and veg in 'em, or curry in loads of sauce. Fried stuff done in batter. And ma taught me to make croquettes...

Wow. That's a good question, man. Depending on where you go, feels like you can get anything you can catch ... salmon and tuna are pretty common. Usually, they're fresh, not cooked? Mackerel, halibut, eel... shrimp 'n squid sometimes, but they ain't fish.

It's kinda ... it's gotta be really fresh or kept frozen first, so that it doesn't get a chance to get to where it goes off and makes folks sick? I think there's somethin' in the way it's all prepared, too... I never learned to make that sort myself the, uh, old way.

[He'll skip the lesson about fugu for now.]

Ain't the traditional condiments supposed to be, like, antimicrobial too? Or is that just shit my friends told me to try and get me to eat wasabi.

I've heard that one, but unless you're drowning things in wasabi I dunno how much difference it's gonna make?
