[The voice that prods at everyone is so quiet and tentative, it's probably pretty easily ignored, even despite being a voice in everyone's heads. Mai's just that bad at this psychic network thing.

I-it's just...does anyone know what we're supposed to be doing? I mean, everyone's wearing such spectacular masks and costumes, but... it's a little lonely...not being able to tell who everyone is...

I would think that, at the moment, what is more important than who. However, knowing who one's allies are is important.

I'm still sorting out the details, but at the least, it's probably important to find out what this place really is. It's hard to believe this room was designed for dances...

Mm...that's true. I suppose I was just...missing everyone.

Oh, but um--do you know what's going on, exactly? I haven't been able to figure it out. [More like, she's too scared to mess up to talk to too many people.]

Not at this time. Someone said something to me about the seasons and everyone having a part to play, however, that is all I have understood so far.

So far it seems like the dancing is the important part, not so much who everyone is under their masks... At least, that's the feeling I've been getting. Ahhhhhh, this blending-in stuff is hard! I can't ask anyone any questions.

Maybe it's a machine of some kind...? The floor kinda looked like the inside of a watch.

I did not think about the watch idea, and could not confirm it without closer or more observation, however, it is certainly a machine of some sort, you are correct.

The thought of a watch is an interesting one.

I wonder what's keeping it going, if it really is a machine... Seems like something this big is going to need something equally big to keep things turning, you know? And it can't just start moving whenever there's a party, there were all those lights that were on when we got here, right?

Yes. This place did function when we arrived, however, until we entered the ballroom, I did not see any people other than our company. There might have been those who arrived to start whatever machine it is in motion.

Hmmm... There were all those closed doors when we arrived, weren't there? Maybe one of them leads to somewhere interesting...

Possible. You did not happen to see how they were locked, did you? I admit to not paying too much attention to them.

There must be a way to get from the part of this place we are in to another part.

Weren't they...round? I think? I don't remember seeing any locks, anyway...

Hm. I will take a look at them when I have a chance. I have some skill in lock picking, however, I do not have my tools. I might have to improvise.

Well, we won't be wearing the masks all the time, just when we're in that room. Which is a good thing, because that would drive me crazy. Even if mine is a pretty cute mask.

[And no, she's not telling what it is, because she kind of likes being incognito for once. Besides, then people won't be quite as likely to realize just who the really bad dancer hanging around at the edges of things because formal events make her nervous is, and try to embarrass her.]

Like me, I'm looking for a certain redhead, but I haven't seen her yet. I mean, that hair's gonna be pretty hard to hide, as well as the rest of her, you know.

And the buffet tables and bedroom furniture don't look like part of the original design.
