After the arrival of the Recording Angel [Jaunt-side]

Hey, people. Figure we should probably pull things together and see what we're all doin', here, by now.

First, I wanna warn everybody about the new arrival-- Recording Angel. Limited omniscience, writes down everything interesting she comes across, didn't seem to know I was inside the angel chatting her up, but you never know. If you're an investigator, though, keep your distance from her. She'll probably know exactly who and what you are and that ain't somethin' that'll go well for you.

Also, you know that thing that kept the fire burnin'? That's gone now? Cassandra did some divination shit, and we're pretty sure it's loose somewhere in the Market, and it has more to do with lies and truth. That seems like it's a theme this Jaunt. Be careful what you say and do out there.

Anybody else got somethin' useful to share?

In the interest of leaving without seeing this place scorched to ash, I'd strongly advise worrying less about the Recording Angel and other assorted smokescreens, and more about finding out what the fuck the Marshal of the Hailstorm is doing down here.

All rumor aside, it isn't as anyone's support, and I sincerely doubt it's only for a romp across enemy lines.

[Sabetha's voice oughtn't come as a surprise to Riddick, given he's the one who'd restored her to herself in the first place, but given she's been keeping quiet since, reading back over the Network and laying her own plans to intersect with Sahaquiel's, it might well surprise anyone else.]

Say that again? You think Hajime-the-angel's got a demon boyfriend somewhere?

[Riddick can't believe it. Rohiel wouldn't, either, if he were on the network properly.

He'll address the rest in a minute. For now he's trying not to laugh.]

As reasons for clandestine meetings with a Demon go, that's probably the least disturbing option. Call it an uncharacteristic spark of optimism.

But what I think is that Heaven, Hell, or both are planning a military coup if they can find the pretext for it. According to my - to Sahaquiel's sources, the Marquis wasn't expected either.

I'd rather he have a demon boyfriend. Yeah.

Shit. Who can we check in with or spy on or whatever to try and get a better idea of what's going down? Or I guess you-- there's some people I could get away with asking questions here, but not as many as you.

I'll see what my contacts amongst Heaven's forces and the neutral parties might know. Unfortunately, I don't have nearly as many aligned with Hell here, though the right suspicions sown where their agents might overhear it might churn something up.

The Marquis does have a secret lover, one of the Sithen. I suspect pillow talk is much a vice of Demons as it is for humankind, but getting what he knows out of him might be difficult indeed.

And Rohiel doesn't have any contacts except Brica and you, pretty much.

[Riddick thinks over who all he's taken note of as infiltrated sithen. He guesses:]

[Daneel he might be able to get to talk. Gale he's less sure of.]

Brica might know something, if there's been an increase in weapons commissioned...

And I'm not entirely certain he's one of us, but if it is, it would be the former.

Damn. I've at least seen Daneel's infiltration talk to people, I might've been able to at least have a conversation and maybe get into his head a little. Never seen Gale's infiltration talk to anybody.

I'll talk to Brica, though, see if she's heard of anything. Easy enough to say I was talking to you and now I'm worried about Tara.

Someone not affiliated with Heaven might have an easier time of it, all things considered.

At worst, we could set someone to following both the Marshal and the Marquis - hopefully more skillfully than previous attempts.

That's more of a job for you than most of us-- I could maybe manage it if I didn't fuckin' glow, and carry around a baby.

[He's finding, as expected but not exactly wished for, that his actions really are awfully curtailed by Baby these days....]

Maybe we can find somebody else who's okay at not being seen.

Mayhaps, 'tis still a new thing for me so I am currently seeing how well I can locate it.

Regrettably, there's only one of me.

If we aim for 'not entirely hopeless', we can probably find someone. You'd know better than I the skillset of the newer Travelers - everyone who comes immediately to mind is Infiltrating, otherwise occupied, or likewise has their own personal spotlight.

Let us know if you can get a better fix on it. Since it's related to truth-telling like everything else around here, might wanna get it under wraps.

I have the Harp under wraps. And unless you want the law-bitch to win this round, best let me keep it under wraps, and our fellows none the wiser. Half of them would suck off any tyrant who would hand them even a scrap of power, and the rest are as subtle as a fucking stampede.

Shoulda guessed. Of course you have it. Yeah, all right, you keep it and I won't go chasing it.

[There's a flicker of sharp humour from her side.]

The halo is a remarkably useful disguise.

Nobody expects an angel to steal things, I guess. I know Rohiel would never even consider it.

[He pauses, then adds,]

Unless he had no other option, and his charge was in trouble, actually.
