[One Randolph Lyall is looking for somebody, and he is looking really hard. Sorry, everybody whose minds he just unintentionally-slash-intentionally projected into, friends and strangers and brand new people.... Usually he has better control than this, keeping his thoughts to himself or to whomever he's directly aiming them at, but he's getting increasingly panicked, and a wider mental net simply must be thrown.]

Yes...that's what Hijikata-san said about Ukyo-san as well. And... I haven't found him yet either, but that's why we have to keep looking, no matter what.

[It's a pathetic-sounding bit of hope. He's starting to think he's not going to find Nick, at this point. He's already crossed his own trail a couple times, now....]

[All she has to go off of is hope, of course, utterly misguided and blissfully optimistic hope, but--]

We're still here, so...it's our responsibility to find them. They may not be here in Liminal Space, but even so... I know we'll find them again.

[professorwolf]

[Even with him no longer an angel, and aware of who and what she is, she's still kind of adorable, and manages to make him feel a little better.]

I hope so. I know I won't forget his scent.

[Scent...? What is that supposed to mean.]

You're very sweet. Mai, wasn't it? We met during the Jaunt. I was Zeviel, then-- not actually my name. I'm Randolph Lyall, biology teacher and, er, werewolf.

[Which probably explains the scent bit.]

Oh...um, yes, that's me!

[werewolf.....whoa, she had no idea they were real. Still, it seems so impossible to be afraid of someone as... kind as this.]

Um... Lyall-sensei, then...? You were very kind to me in that Jaunt...thank you for all of your help.

All Zeviel did was point you in the right direction. I think you would have found it eventually on your own, anyhow.

Well....even so, you were very kind... so I hope that we can get to know each other now that we're both ourselves again. I think... I would really like that.

[professorwolf]

[She's just so sweet. Even in the midst of worrying about Nick, he has to pause to smile.]

I think we can manage that. I'd like it, too. Why don't you tell me a bit about yourself while I sniff around, here?

Eh? About me?

[That's the natural thing to get to know each other, Mai...

Still, it has really startled her, and she blinks.]

U-um, well... I'm not that special, but... my name is Mai, like I said before, and I'm from Japan... but not any sort of special world or anything, like the others. I'm just--normal.

[no powers, no werewolf-hood, just...a normal Japanese young woman, and one with amnesia at that, so she doesn't actually have much more to say.]

There's nothing wrong with being "normal", Mai.

[He's a high school teacher. He knows some things to ask, at least.]

Do you have a family, back home? Parents, brothers and sisters?

[There is........ at least, when she causes troubles for others here because she can't defend herself, but for now, she doesn't argue the point.]

Um... no, I don't think I have any siblings. [probably.] But... I do have two best friends who are almost like brothers to me...! Shin and Toma... they're my childhood friends.

[professorwolf]

I didn't have any siblings growing up, either. I'm glad you found people to fill the role, though. What are Shin and Toma like?

Oh...well. Shin is younger than me--but he's studying very hard to get into a good school, and is a very hard worker. He's bad at talking about how he really feels, but... I know he cares a lot. [despite his insults and grumpiness.]

And Toma...! Toma is older than me. But he's always looking out for us and taking care of us like an older brother. [Except when he goes crazy.]

I do miss them a lot...

[But it makes her happy to talk about them, even so.]
