[JAUNT] Check-in

... let us get this over with so we can return to Liminal Space. This place is unpleasant.

Leonardo da Vinci, present. Known infiltrators: Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Known missing: Genevieve Blanchard and Zed. I... cannot sense them through our Bond. They were likely sent on a Walkabout.

For anyone who does not know about radiation and is near an area expected to get to 150 rads or more - get out of there immediately. Such radiation levels might cause adverse effects on your body, unless you have the proper protection. Find a safer place. I might be able to distribute suits from the Ivory Tower to combat the radiation, but I do not know how much they would stand out. Still, it might be worth the risk so that we are not harmed in the process.

[How about that, the Ivory Tower was useful after all.]

Please list any confirmed infiltrators and any confirmed missing persons so we are more aware of our current numbers.

This is Jade. We haven't met. I don't know what radiation is, so I'm going to assume I have the same safe dose as everyone else. What do the adverse effects look like?

[Raksura are more temperature-tolerant than most groundlings, but Jade knows several poisons that are species-specific. Better to watch for symptoms and hope there was something obvious as a warning sign.]

Present. Don't have my radiation-proof suit with me so I'll take you up on that offer later I think. [It's hard to tell if he's being serious or not about the suit - considering the Batman's paranoia with all things dangerous that could be exploited by criminals? There's probably a tiny protective anti-radiation suit hanging in the batcave back home.]

You sound tense though, something wrong?

Uh... huh. There's a little shack with a broken blue wing as the roof on the edge of town, opposite direction of the sun. I'll see you there in an hour, try to be rebelievable by the time I get there.

I'm here. I'll give a shout if I run into anyone.

There's way too much gravity here, anyone else noticed? I hate heavy lifting.

It is a penal colony for several spacefaring societies. I believe 'unpleasant' is the point, though it is hardly the most hostile place we've been.

[There is a quiet mental sigh.]

Liara T'Soni checking in. My people have been among the stars for several millennia, so I am happy to answer questions for those who come from pre-spaceflight societies and wish to have some idea of what to expect.

You'll acclimate to the increased gravity in short order - fortunately, it is not high enough for non-native species to require specialized equipment in order to function.

This is Near. I've found a safer location, but if I'm to go out at all, I will be in need of the protection.

[He would truly rather not go out. But he may have little choice in the matter, and he would prefer to avoid the damaging effects of radiation.]

Nibiru would qualify for the most hostile weather, of the destinations I can recall - though I'm not certain if any of you who were not with us the first split Jaunt would have seen any exterior locations.

I can teach you about the technology, yes. Although if you're looking to secure a place, I would suggest beginning with antiradiation medicines, if you can bring the items you create in Liminal Space out here into the world. In conditions such as these, they would be an invaluable resource.

[There's a pause, long enough for her to run a few brief calculations through her omni-tool.]

This world exerts roughly half again Earth's gravitational pull. I would strongly advise watching your footing - a drop here is more hazardous than one of the same height would be on your home planet.

Huh, I wonder how gravity magic interacts with a different base gravity. If you don't hear back from me, the answer was "badly".

It should be fairly simple to recalculate your desired effects to compensate for the higher gravity - it's part of basic biotic training, though our skills are not mystical in nature.

The difficult part is managing energy requirements. Depending on how they scale, you might overtax yourself if you're not cautious.

Honestly the tricky part so far is finding something I'm willing to stand on. This place is kinda precarious, you get me?

I'm here, Papa! But, um..... there's at least one person from Questing Country here. Thorne's person- Chariote? She called me Champion of Stars. I told her I wasn't, which I guess is the right answer because she said it was probably my grandfather or something but...
solvethepuzzle: (Huh)

[personal profile] solvethepuzzle 2016-01-13 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh. That's interesting.]

It makes sense. Hecatites have been a space-faring species for some time.
darkhourdear: (Phillip [Curious])

[personal profile] darkhourdear 2016-01-13 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Really? [well.... that's good to know.] I haven't seen anyone else who might recognize us from there yet, but.
solvethepuzzle: (Casual)

[personal profile] solvethepuzzle 2016-01-13 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Given her supposition of your parentage, several decades must have passed since the time we were in Questing Country. Any who might recognize us would more than likely be Hecatites as well; most other species represented there have shorter lifespans than they do.
darkhourdear: (Phillip [Um...])

[personal profile] darkhourdear 2016-01-13 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Which I guess means any of us who get recognized should say we're not... hopefully it's just Thorne, because everyone say that would look super suspicious.

Unfortunately, I do. Crashed ships are rarely stable.

Where all the lean-tos and stuff are.
