Not sure if I'm up to speed on the fine details myself just yet, but since this place seems like the kind where you wanna come up with a story and stick to it I figured we should all do each other a favor and compare notes: Aliases, family connections-- [his tone makes the implication of that word perfectly clear] --the works. Hard to sell the story if you don't know all the characters, right?

Anyway- I've been tellin' people I'm from Connecticut, trying to make nice with the people in charge here, maybe do a little business... [He trails off.] Family name I've been giving is 'Monroe', head goes by 'Adrian'- my uncle, in case that comes up, an old friend of the stiff we got over here.

[There's a pause (and the psychic equivalent of nail-chewing) while he considers alerting the network to Nic's presence... But in the end he decides it's best to keep that to himself, or at between himself and a smaller group at most. The last thing he wants is to sic a bunch of Normals on a Tag who doesn't know he's a Tag, bff or not.

And so he clears his throat and continues:]

Considering the clothing I have found myself in, I am going with the obvious that I am a private investigator from Tokyo in the city for a while. As my family at home is quite well-known in our own circles, I am using the name of Naoto Seta while I am here.

As to where we are, the only thing I have come across is that we are in America somewhere. The dead gentleman is a Familiar Face. The last time he appeared was as the Prime Defender on the Grid. I believe that most times he has appeared it is in a position of some authority. Also, the lawyer telling tales is a familiar face as well. The last time I remember seeing him was in Harrogate as a corpse.

I am likely going to start looking into Mr. Boddy... I mean, the deceased's death. It might not be why we are here, but it might shed some light on the matter.

I wasn't myself when we were in space last time, but something I did notice after the fact was that Investigators tried really hard to keep their heads down, and uh...none of them knew what they were supposed to be doing so they just kinda guessed.

Randolph Lyall. I think the name is innocuous enough, and I'm actually from this country, so I can just use my own past, I believe. I grew up in Iowa, and came out east to go to college. I'm a teacher, so I think I can manage to be a teacher here, as well.

Oh good, so I'm not the only one in this joint without a clue. [He's half kidding- he pretty much lives this crap back home, but the Investigating part... That's new.] I think someone else's gonna have to hook you up with a list, though- all I can say for sure is that I've seen Helena and she's definitely gone native.

I did just get the information as well that we are in New York, and the deceased supposedly is some sort of gambler, who was found floating in the river.

If I didn't know better, I'd think I was in a novel.

I believe we're in the nineteen-twenties or thirties, actually. So a novel would be what you're most familiar with, in regards to this time frame.

Basically, I'm hearing a lot about illegal activities. I believe this bar itself is in fact illegal. There was a time when alcohol and gambling were both outlawed in this country, after all, and this appears to be during that time.

[He thinks, anyway. His knowledge of American history has always been a little fuzzy.]
