bando: first blood

... tell me, is there an award for earliest, most ignominious death in a jaunt? Because I think I may have won that anti-prize.

Those of you in Nakamiyo, tread lightly around Gyakusatsu Izanami. And see if you can hide my body? I'm on the outskirts of Mibu Village, on the disused path near the Sentai clanhouse. If I'm lucky enough that no one but Izanami knows I died then perhaps I can slip back into my overlay's life.

[Sorry, By. That's not going to happen. Given that it took about a day for you to resurrect in Liminal--must have been Bai's fate as a pincushion that caused the delay--not only do all the Sentai siblings know about your death, but so should most of Mibu Village.]

Oh, no more bloodthirsty than your average death goddess.

[Now that he's caught some of the other conversations Byerly's having:] Of course it's Istas-san.

[Even after the number of holes she put in it?]

Well, with a family name like 'genocide,' I wouldn't expect much different.

It's not as though the two concepts aren't close.

I don't suppose you have any fresh insights as to what we're doing here?

Well, that's idiotic. If there's no payment up front, there's no reason to believe there'll be any payment.

They'd be better off uniting their forces against the Empire.

God, I wish SHIRO was here. Or Naoto, but she'd probably say she couldn't manage it as herself. Still, she's got one successful rebellion under her belt, I bet she could figure out a second.

Which is why it'd be nice to have an expert on rebellions handy to ask - the bigger picture is just as important as the short term. [Which is also the heart of Naoki's own issues with Leo.

Well, that and the 'detonated a nuclear-equivalent device' thing.]

The real question, if it's going to stand any chance of working, is who could possibly persuade everyone to listen to them. SHIRO had a lot of support already before it tried anything fancy, and I don't think there's anyone filling that void here.

I vote for whichever faction the Empire likes least. They'll probably have the best chance of coming through well enough to work with what they have left.

I think that's where I am - probably because they don't make newcomers' lives as difficult as possible, if that's the case. It's worth looking into, at least.

I'll see what I can do, provided Riddick-san's beard isn't too distracting. It's more disconcerting than the afro he ended up with in Purgatory.

[That was a Kamui side effect, though, so not many people saw it... then again, there's a non-zero chance Byerly was in the bar at the time. He usually was.]

Hey, I survived the afro, didn't I? I think I'll be fine.
