Hello, this is Naoto Shirogane. I... seem to have been evicted from my overlay, one Mako Adams.

Do not attempt to tangle with him. While his actual powers are much less than people have been led to believe, he is crafty, and an excellent pistol shot. I will be taking him out myself after removing a few things from his apartment.

Thorne-san, Malik-san, Tim-san, Zed-san, my most sincere apologies.

They know we are here, but they are mostly unaware of who we are or what we do.

Once I have taken a few moments, I will be back and see what I can do.

[It doesn't take Yosuke too long to get to Aiya. He looks pretty much the same as always, except he has a very relieved smile on his face at seeing Naoto.] Hey.

I'll be careful.

[She looks up from where she's sitting at the counter when he comes in and manages a small smile, waving a plate of sushi in front of her.]

Hello, Senpai. Would you care for some sushi? Kanji left plenty.

[With Magnus's help (well, dictation) Tybalt leaves a note behind so nobody worries. It's written in elegant 17th century handwriting, and part of it is Tybalt explaining he was helping the cat go home, and part of it is Magnus saying he'll be back.]

I'm in Liminal now, just give us some time to find the restaurant.

[It doesn't take long, and Tybalt strolls through the door, Magnus in his arms.]

Milady.

Magnus!

[Without waiting to be set down, Magnus jumps out of Tybalts arms and onto the counter, climbing down into Naoto's lap and purring loudly. Yes, good. His lady is back, and herself.]

It's just Naoto, Tybalt-san. I am no lady here. Thank you for bringing Magnus to me.

[She never thought she'd become so attached to the fuzz butt, but she... is. Very much so.]

Ah, so you were the detective who was the culprit this time...my sympathies. I'm certainly glad to have your intellect back on our side.

How exactly were you evicted, though?

After everything I have been a witness to, I am glad to be back as well.

[There is an exasperated sigh before she goes on, carefully.]

Adams' training is in exorcism. He is well aware of how to remove spirits from people. He used a combination of a laser pointer of some sort and a woman's powder compact that already contained a... raven spirit, I believe.

I was... in the compact for a few moments, at least long enough to speak to him briefly before I came here.

Ugh. Mirrors. That would do it, alright.

He's a major problem for our attempts at interfering with things already...any insights into his weaknesses?

He is extremely paranoid and has an extremely short fuse. He is only threatening so far as you show fear or weakness or lie to him.

As for powerset, unlike what people say, he is no telepath. In actuality, he has heightened senses and acute training on how to use that. He is also able to tell if anyone is lying, so I wouldn't try.

To be frank, anyone with an actual power set with some planning and determination could take him out. I am intending to do just that. I... have used my Persona against a person only rarely, but I believe this is warranted.

[Beatrice pauses. He sounds like a fun diversion and a nice reminder of the last third-rate detective she thrashed into oblivion, but...]

...there's no need to bloody your hands when there's plenty of professional killers about, Detective. Execution isn't the job of an investigator.

He is of the opinion that you are, and deserve the accolades.

[And really, he'll defer to the cat in this case. It doesn't hurt anyone, as humans don't do titles much anymore.]

It was nothing; he has been a great help to me, besides the fact that he's a cat.

[Kanji sighs softly. He knows how hard trying to keep control is, after all.]

You kept it together on the network 'n that's better than a lotta people could do.

Well, er, thank you. And thank you as well, Magnus.

[She turns a bit pink, and cuddles Magnus a bit closer. For his part, the fuzzball cat snuggles even deeper into Naoto's lap.]

Good. I'm glad he's been helpful. Have... either of you seen Souji? I don't think my overlay ever encountered him.

It would be useless to break down over the network. No one would get any benefit from it, especially myself.

[She sighs.]

Now, however, I need a plan for going forward.

We have been looking together but haven't encountered him yet. I shall certainly step up the search now that you remember yourself. I suspect you could do with the comfort.

[Oberon knows Tybalt would really, really like if his own fiance was here. Of course, he could still be infiltrating...]

Of knowing where he is, at least, even if he's not himself.

[He smiles at her, gives her a nod.]

Alright. Let's get ya up 'n running again and we can work out how to take that asshole down.

[Magnus meows up at Tybalt]

I thought I saw my lord on one of my wanders, however, I cannot be sure. He smelled differently, but that could just be the Infiltration.

[Naoto just sighs, petting Magnus.]

Yes. With people disappearing lately, I would like to know if he is still here, or if I will need to be looking out for a dungeon.

[Or, by some miracle he got sent home to heal.]

[Tybalt’s response in return is at least partly non-verbal, and all in cat, although Naoto may be able to pick out some of the meaning, given Tybalt’s current form.]

Where did you see him and what did he smell like? A clue will more easily lead us to him.

[Then he continues to Naoto.]

We may have just found a lead. I will be sure to keep you informed, of course.

By 'they' do you mean just the Knights? Or would the White Company know as well?

And... [a brief pause] Are you sure you can handle him on your own? If you need any help...

I am unaware of what the White Company might or might not know. It is my understanding that the Knights have much more specific information than anyone else does, but that is speculation. My overlay had very little do do with the Company, and quite a lot of... distaste for them.

As for my own abilities, I am more than capable. My specific powerset would do well in this world, and I am at least as good of a shot as he, if not better.

This is not the first detective gone bad that I have taken down.

[And knowing her luck, probably not the last.]

Besides, I am loathe to sit back when I have quite a lot of specific information about him.

... and I want his laptop.

[She takes a breath and nods.]

Thank you, Kanji. I think the first order of business would be to get back to see how he is proceeding now that he knows I exist.

[She'll go... eventually. After she has a few more sushi and some more snuggle.]

[Magnus raises a paw, as if he is pointing, and describes the area around his sighting.]

He had a terrible sense of fashion at the time. I certainly hope that is the overlay and not something my lord will retain.

[Naoto glances down at him and smiles a tiny bit.]

Good kitty, Magnus. Thank you both.

The damn irony on this Jaunt is quite heavy-handed.

[Yeah, he can provide as much of either as needed right now.]

Makes sense. See what sorta thing we're gonna have to deal with.
