Checking in... [Morning After Arrival]

...I think I got it now...

[Don't mind that, fellow Investigators; she's just mentally steeling herself.]

Good morning, everyone. I think that, since we've had some time to get settled into this world, we should start checking up with each other to see what we've learned so far. Even if it's doesn't seem important now, it may be later.

Also...if anyone knows who among us might be their other selves, it might be best to share that with everyone. That way, we can avoid any potential confusion. After all, we don't want the wrong people learning about who we really are.

Daiki? Are you...still you?

Lyall here. I actually know quite a bit about this place, it seems, if anyone has questions. I can even apparently give a tour of important places. Armin is quite right about the divide, they're called Lightsiders and Darksiders, and Dusklings do in fact cater to both for communication and such.

The city wasn't always like this. There was a plague, or something like, that apparently caused it all, over a millennia ago.

Er, and that's not as long for them as for us, it's only a few generations for them. They live hundreds of yeas. Elves, and all that.

A plague? What kind of plague leaves you and all your descendants only able to see in the light or the dark?

That's not something I know, which makes me think it isn't general knowledge what exactly the plague was like. We can try to find that out, of course, but my guess would be it is magical in nature. This world seems to run on magic the way ours runs on electricity. They call it "mana".

Mana? That's what they call it?

What else do you know about it?

All I really know is that it's the energy equivalent here. No one uses it to cast spells, though they may have in the past. That's not part of my general knowledge, but we could do some research if it turns out to be important or even just interesting.

[And now he's curious.]

[it's definitely interesting, and Matthew certainly plans to look into it further, whether it's important or not]

Thanks, that's good to know.

So we are elves now... that's so cool!

[Guess who finally woke up?]

And a tour sounds wonderful, to be honest. That plague isn't still around, is it?

Well, we look like elves. I don't know if we have the other perks they do-- my senses don't seem any different, though I don't know if I'd notice. Mine are already sharper than theirs are, though theirs are sharper than yours would be.

Everything I am remembering about the plague thinks of it in past tense, so no, I don't think it's still around.
lunchleader: (c'mon get happy~)

Whew~! That's a relief...

And yeah, their eyesight is definitely better than what mine normally is. I can actually see okay at night.

...kinda weird that they don't have streetlamps, though.

There is actually a reason for that. What I said about Lightsiders and Darksiders is actually pretty literal. Lightsiders can only see during the day, when there's light, and Darksiders are blinded by only a little light, so the people stay exclusively on their own side of the "day", as it were. So the only people out at night won't need streetlamps, and even more, won't want them.
