The irony of this is astounding
Excuse me... ah, I believe I am using this properly?
My name is Hiroshi Yamane. I thought it prudent to inform the rest of the Travellers that a young man - a Prince, I believe - has been attempting to recruit young men and women to serve as priests and priestesses under the idea that the Goddess Hebe will be able to help resolve this incident. I myself have my doubts, but at the same time I feel that if I allow myself to be recruited, I may be able to better understand what else may be going on beyond what we know of the Titans and the Gods themselves. That said, I admit I am still very new to this, ah, "investigating" process, and if anybody should desire that I look into anything in particular as I work towards this endeavor, I am more than willing to listen to suggestions.
Thank you for your time.

You don't know who I am, do you?

The body Hiroshi is in now isn't him. It's his piece on the Trumps' game board. Arcanas are Trumps. That's what we used to call them.
Anyway. That body isn't Hiroshi. That body is a piece they made for the game board. Hiroshi's mind is in the piece, but his real body is waiting for his mind to come back to it. So Hiroshi can die bunches of times as a piece and still be really alive! Because it's not his real body.
So even if they do kill him on the game board, the real Hiroshi will be okay! So you don't have to worry. And we don't even know if he'll get killed anyway. You just think he will, so you're bullying him because you don't really understand how stuff works.

[Yakumo is getting sick of all this in-fighting, especially in regards to what he sees as a perfectly reasonable progression of a good plan.]
Whatever world your knowledge is based on, this isn't it. Until you have proof that something in this world aligns with yours, forcing the rest of us to assume it will only hold us back.

[That is a hella cavalier attitude about death.]

[At least from the moments he assumes are memories of him doing so. Yeah, those... those aren't the better memories.]

[ON the one hand, memories of death are something the two have in common apparently. On the other hand, what.]

I shall not question this too much and simply take your word for it.

At any rate, I have... a feeling. A feeling that this is where I should be going.
no subject
Really? A feeling? Because a moment ago you were talking about doubts...
[Gah, humans are confusing.]
no subject
Mostly, they are doubts as to how much one goddess can achieve. But as for my feelings, it is less about the Goddess herself and more about the man recruiting. I... cannot explain it, I am afraid.

Fear tells us there is danger about even when our eyes tell us there aren't any dangers.

[There's an angry terseness in his voice. You get the feeling you've touched a nerve.]

[Well, Billions, but he won't go into that.]

As to having your world view violently ripped away... it's happened to me twelve times so far. And that's before I mention that my home world was put into suspended animation while it burned for all eternity.
[He might be taking a little bit of creative license with that last description, but it's easier than trying to explain the Time War and Time Locks and other such things.]

The smell of burning fat and bread is pleasing to the Olympian Dodecatheon. The smell of burning human... pleases only Ares.
And not even the other Gods will indulge Ares on this point.
