In a lighter announcement than usual, Callum and I have made tacos in Aiya. The meat is beef, though requests for others can be made as well. I am trying to convince him to make ones with lamb in an experiment.

Anyone who wishes to partake of them is welcome to them.

[Because that is clearly the most important bit going on here.]

I am of the mindset that sharing food of our different homes is a way to come closer together as a group even loosely.

We do not have to like one another or agree on the large issues, but we can find a level of common ground between us.

In that light, what sort of things are common where you are from?

That's me. My family went to Big Time every year, so it got to be kind of a thing.

Big Time is cool. I've only been like a handful of times, mostly when I was a kid, but I thought it was pretty fun. And frybread is, like, hella delicious, no matter what you use it for.

So you're from California too, then? What part? Up by SF? I'm from Santa Carla, at the north end of the Monterey Bay. Great surfing, beach boardwalk, and a lot of bourgie ex-hippies that make rent stupid expensive. I mean, eleven hundred for a studio downtown? Seriously?

[It might be called Santa Cruz in his world. It's Santa Cruz in a lot of worlds, just not hers.]

Angel Grove, on the coast south of Los Padres National Forest. Let's see: we have fishing, which wasn't totally wiped out by the recession, mining, the recession put the last nail in that coffin, and high school football, that got killed for reasons totally unrelated to the recession. Go Tigers. On the plus side, rent is pretty low.

[Geographically, it's where Santa Barbara should be, but it's about four times as big.]

Huh. I don't think that's what the city south of Los Padres is called in my world, but that's okay. We're just from different Californias, that's all. Do I want to know about the football?

I think Amanda's from SoCal like you. I forget where, though.

Amanda, huh? Haven't met yet, but I'll remember.

This different worlds thing is going to take some getting used to.

You will, though. It's just a thing. Most of us are from different worlds. Sometimes it's even from same world groups and different worlds. Like me and my friend Melissa are from directly parallel worlds with a few stark differences and another of the newbies is either from one of ours or a third in the same group.

Sort of. It's not unheard of for there to be multiple variations. Talk to the Inaba kids sometime.

I'll, uh, make a note.
