Harrogate was a lovely Jaunt, really.

I'm sorry to bring talk back to Harrogate again, but if that's where we're going, it's worth noting that the last time we were there, we lost access to both the network and Liminal Space midway through the Jaunt. That doesn't mean it will happen again this time, but it's still something we may need to plan for.

Dumb question then, they have a bar or coffee shop we can all agree ta meet at there? That way we can figure out what means of communication we do have and work from there.

It's difficult to say without knowing what era we're arriving in and what condition we left it in. There is the Thistle House Inn, though; it was a distinctive-looking building in its own right, so if that's still standing, it may at least serve as a decent landmark even if it's not operating anymore.

Well that's a start. Any other places like a city hall or big damn church or something like that? Say we state a main meet up joint, then a back up one on say noon the day after we get there so we all have our bearings?

The town hall, maybe. It's not as visually distinctive as the inn, but it's something. Harrogate was not a particularly large city.

I'm looking at this like a job back home. Couldn't really use the phones cause you didn't know what ones were clean, so me and my pals'd come in and get a lay of the land then just go for a place we were all bright enough to figure out. And trust me, Hacken wasn't that bright so it limited our options. Figure that's probably the best plan for now if we're expecting to have no communications.

Also, you mind telling me exactly what this Harrogate place is? I'm hearing monsters, defense from the dark arts, nope nope nopeville, but no one is being really specific.

The only thing that might be a problem with that is that there are a fairly large number of us and as a group we're not the best at appearing inconspicuous.

And Harrogate was... a mess, to put it euphemistically. We arrived in 1897 ahead of the Queen's Jubilee celebration. The mayor had planned for entertainment in the form of a play, translated from German to English if I remember correctly, that was to take place at the town theatre. In actuality, the play was meant to serve as part of a summoning ritual for an eldritch god who shall go nameless; the goal was, I think, to use the audience as either sacrifices or infection vectors, to give the god a foothold in that world. We did succeed in stopping him, but only barely, and a large number of people either died or went mad in the process. The theatre was in the process of burning down around us when we were brought back to Liminal Space - which was mostly restored, although the god in question kept trying to make forays into Liminal Space for the next several Jaunts.

There's more to it, but that was the largest conflict.

I think it will depend on how much time has elapsed since our last visit. Some of our return visits are fairly close, but there are at least two Jaunts that took place in the same universe over a hundred years apart.

One of the other Investigators at the time was checking out something by the lake. The eldritch horror at the center of things took exception to this and expressed their displeasure by invading the network, blasting trumpets in our heads, and then cutting us off entirely in a burst of fire and noise.

[There is more, and worse, but Raidou needs to keep at least some mental distance from the memory. He can still hear Neria's scream, and the silence that had followed... until the trumpets started, anyway, and the gurgling that had followed. And then that eye...

I wasn't in Liminal Space when access to that was taken away, too, but the same entity, or entities, were almost certainly responsible.

So they can't just invade liminal space. They can attack it, they can purposefully remove us from it, they can do all sorts of shit that we may not be able to predict.

While we were in their world, at least. I'm not sure how hard they were trying to break in after the Jaunt, but they made their presence felt for several Liminals after that until the Arcana finally managed to block them.

I don't recall them trying to break into the network again, though.

With our luck, though, what do you think the odds are of it not happening again?

Churches might be a good meeting place. Whatever era we're entering, they'll probably still have those, and they're easy to find.

That's true.

...And now that I think of it, some of us can probably still create maps of the place as it was - I know I can. There's no guarantee that things will be in the same places this time, but it would at least be a start.
