I cannot be the only person who is worried about PSYCHE-net, can I? I have no problems with androids or robots, however there is just something unsettling about this that I cannot put my finger on. We need to keep a close watch on this so-called beta situation.

Also, is anyone else suspicious about this... entity? I am beginning to wonder if we are encountering another one of our infamous Trumps. The Lovers comes to mind. Any thoughts?

I'm guessing they observe or test us somehow before they decide to claim us, so if this is another Trump, then it's pretty well-placed for that.

Yes. I have not been able to observe all of the factions, however, I do know there are some... fairly passionate groups that seem to clash. I hope that we have people in each of the groups to be able to report on what is going on. I wonder if we should do a roll call of some sort.

If it is a Trump, that creates a whole other set of questions.

It is doubtful that Lovers would be an actual artificial intelligence, however, it could be masquerading as one for its own purposes. We know so little about the Trumps and how they operate, that I would not be surprised if that were possible.

I have, admittedly, always been fascinated by robots, however, like many, sometimes I fall into traps of stereotyping.

I am certain that Moon and Sun at least were working together, as Moon pointed me to Sun in the first place. Other than that, I do not know.

It would be extremely well-placed to find someone or some ones who are connected to its interests.

A roll call seems like it would be useful. If factions are going to clash, we would do well to know where all the pieces intend to move. And if PSYCHEnet is truly a Trump...I am unsure what we can do to prevent what chaos it may or may not be planning.

Otherwise, we might be well-served to have some investigators connected with all of the various factions, if possible, to know what is going on in each of them.

It would be a much more sensible reason for our presence than simply trying to settle the romantic lives of teenagers. [He can't help but find that task extremely frivolous and has a difficult time genuinely caring about such entanglements. Even if it may well be why they have been sent here for whatever reason.]

There are always unscrupulous people who would seek to manipulate a trusted entity for their own benefit. It is a potential cause for concern.

I doubt we would be able to prevent the chaos, in fact, our presence might be to enhance the chaos, as the Trumps seem to love controlling our lives.

At the moment, I think we need to keep our eyes and ears open and try to cover as many places as possible.

Quite. It has never settled well with me the thought that we were here to sort out the love confessions. We are not mail sorters. Anyone else could do that. The people of this universe could easily do that. Why bring us here for that?

Exactly. I have observed that this PSYCHE-net is well-loved by the students, so if someone were to manipulate it, that could be a large difficulty.

That is a very human thing to do, though.

At present, I find PSYCHENet's behaviour consistent with that of a positronic brain, but I will continue to observe. I cannot yet rule out this hypothesis.

Maybe... but computers don't usually program themselves, even smart ones. So someone would probably fix that, first.

But I don't really see what the fuss is about. There's a lot of other things going on, too.

There are difficulties with being spread out, however, in this case, I believe it is helpful. There is no benefit to clumping together here. We need as much information as we can get.

[Yes, he notices. Even less observant people than him would notice.] The possibility, however, cannot be completely discounted, as ridiculously trivial as it would be. We've many sets of eyes and ears; casting a wider net is not an unfeasible prospect and may still yield relevant data on other areas of investigation.
