Ugh, okay I wasn't going to add to the flood of people talking about weird visions but there's this one bit of the one I saw that is really sticking with me.

The vision: A pair of dragons were fighting. They were WAY bigger than the ones you guys brought back. The smaller of the two was like the size of a bus. Then while I watch it all an evil tree spoke to me, saying something like "You aren't the only one who has a mascot!" Which, who knows what that means.

That's not the weird part.

The weird part is One of the dragons was using Liminal Portals.

I don't think they had a lot of choice. Anything less than an N2 Mine doesn't even slow an Angel down - and sometimes they don't even do that much.

And we try really hard not to do too much damage to the city.

Well... I haven't actually read the Bible, so I'm not sure. But in the Bible they probably weren't giants from outer space?

I think I'd prefer to believe that's a codename for something big and strange and possibly on fire and I'm going to until something proves it's not true.

Probably. It's not the kind of thing anyone talks to Pilots about, much.

They're awful, and they want to wipe humanity off the planet. We're just supposed to get in our Eva and stop them.

I signed up to fight the Nightmares. Figured out how to call up an ANIMa, and hit them hard where we could hurt them. In dreams. We couldn’t fight a like fifty-story monster. But in an ANIMa, we could dream hard enough to kill the Nightmare wearing that monster.

You fought them... in dreams?

I can't picture how that would work... for Angels, I think their dreams would have been more dangerous.

It involved those SQuIDs, a tank of fizzy water so I could breathe it and fall asleep in it, and an alien artifact so our dreams got mixed up with the nightmares.

Super dangerous.

Meanwhile, you have a giant pilotable cyborg with Totally Not Nukes. Still stupid dangerous, but for real different reasons.

It's funny. It's kind of the same, but the details are really different.

It's... it isn't exactly true, but there's only three other people who test in the same range, and only about twenty-five in Japan who have even a chance. And they're all our age.

It was scary, I'd be nuts if I wasn't scared, but it wasn't all bad. And I signed up, I didn't get drafted, that... makes a difference.

They tell me I could stop if I wanted to... but Rei gets hurt almost every time she's sortied... and Asuka's synch ratio goes up and down a lot more than mine...

When everyone in Japan might die if you stop, it doesn't matter if they say you have a choice. They don't really mean it.
