Dream News [Early Week 2]

In analyzing something that Kinji found, I think I've discovered something. When he connected to the pool... there's something down there. I don't know if it's this Glatisant or not...

But there's a layer underneath the dream here. Deeper than what we're interacting with now. And there are consciousnesses in it. I don't know if contacting those is our aim... but it's worth considering.

And as a side note - there exists legends of a 'Beast Glatisant' in my world. It's also called the 'Questing Beast'. The term 'glatisant' is related to a word that means 'barking' or 'yelping', and the beast itself has several interpretations.

'Helpful', no. Alice turned into a large lizard, so I suppose she's it.

I did, and she has about as much clue as we do. It seems she's investigating as well, not infiltrating.

Oh man. Um. Well. I've been everything but a Pillar in one Infiltration or another. Maybe I could give you advice?

... Perhaps. Apparently I'm the 'Adversary of Memory', whatever that means.

Well. An Adversary is someone who fights, but instead of fighting for other people, they fight for their own goals. Their powers are less showy than Champion powers are, but they have more finesse. And Memory is what your powers will be based on. Can't give you specifics on the rest, though. They're tailored individually.

... That makes sense. But... tch. I'll have to figure out what it is that I can do with them. I have no idea... knowing me I'll discover them as soon as it's inconvenient.

Have you tried to trigger a transformation sequence like in a magical girl anime? That helped me.

I had one when I first got here, and Phillip changed my outfit, but I changed it back. I don't need to look like some sort of fantasy reject.

... If they don't that's stupid, but I wouldn't be surprised in this place. But I refuse to look like I'm from a bad medieval fantasy game.

I'm aware. I still have standards, Thorne. And robes are a bit difficult to move around easily in.

It does, occasionally. I take it off when I'm working on hardware. But I'm fairly careful with it.

On the subject of the Glatisant... I tried to get a reading on what, if any, perspective it might have governing it, and I got a lot of noise. I can't tell if that's a reflection of it being made up of a bunch of smaller creatures, or if there really is more than one idea uniting them, but either way it's badly scrambled.

Also, that bugling noise it's making looks like a goddamned rainbow.

Could you get a read on how many consciousnesses were underneath?

No, I couldn't, other than 'one or more'. The pain accompanying it was somewhat distracting.

Preferably I'd get down there and do this firsthand, but I have no idea how to 'Interface', or whatever it was he did.

That's kinda my plan too.
It ain't that bad to learn how to do, but it ain't something that you can pass on without doing it in person.

That's a theory about dreams that always made sense to me. Haven't we all dreamt that we were dreaming, at some point?

I usually conceptualize Liminal Space in layers as well. I had a couple of different levels back home, and I believe that the Arcana have mentioned, or we have assumed, that their residence is on some "higher plane of Liminality" compared to where we exist.

True. But it doesn't change the fact that we might need to find out what it is that's lurking there.

And... yes. That's also a thought. I haven't managed to go to that plane since my initial meeting with my 'patron'.

I'm presently busy chasing the beast, because I apparently have no survival instinct. Not that that's a surprise to anyone by now, but I should still point it out.

I think it might be related, though. This dream-beast came from somewhere. Why not a deeper dream? Especially given its form...

Yes... supposedly it's merged with some sort of idea. I'd like to see if I can find out what this idea is. Examining the pools may help, not that I'm entirely sure how this place visualizes an idea.
