Open to All Investigators-Beginning of Digital Frontier Jaunt

For those who are experiencing this for the first time, don't worry. Just keep calm and listen to this message.

If you're hearing this, you're what we call an investigator: someone who retains their memories from their home and other worlds if they have them while in a Jaunt. Some of us have blended in with the setting and are called Infiltrators; don't try and jog their memory back otherwise we'll be in a lot of trouble. They also cannot use the network we're on right now.

What we need to know now is who's not thinking they're a program and what they have noticed so far. Anything will help us try and figure out a way to solve this next issue.

[And fortunately, Lyall has had enough Japanese students in his time (and watched enough anime) that he at least knows what sensei means.]

I can only change when the sun is down. The strength only applies then, as well. I'm... not really sure what counts as a sun here, so I'm playing it safe thus far and not trying anything. The senses persist during the daylight, however, and those still work as advertized.

It means I can turn into one, when the sun is down. And as I said, the stronger senses of smell and hearing, like a wolf might have, though I believe mine are actually magically enhanced beyond your typical canine.

Or how to get them not to shoot us or stomp on us with their flying pants.

[personal profile] turbedon 2015-04-09 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly? It wouldn't work anyway. From what I've seen so far, the only way to snap someone back from Infiltrator to Investigator is to kill them and hope they resurrect in the Jaunt.

That... doesn't always go well though.
turbedon: (and they'll show us)

[personal profile] turbedon 2015-04-09 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
Considering they found the 'Cryptos', I'd say they found what they were digging for. Thing is, they don't seem too happy about finding them.

Robin still as Robin here.

Anyone who has no idea what a computer or a program is needs a buddy for this Jaunt I think. I get the feeling this is going to be one of those 'hide to survive' rounds, based on how twitchy those Defenders are about anyone not acting 'normal'.

[There you are, Tweedle One. She was beginning to wonder.]

Did you seriously just suggest the buddy system?

I didn't realize we'd all gone back to elementary school, or I might've considered bringing back the pigtails.

[She didn't actially wear pigtails in middle school most of the time, but enjoy that mental image.]
turbedon: (and they'll show us)

[personal profile] turbedon 2015-04-09 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Never been, but you have to admit there's merit to the idea.

You can still rock the pigtails if you want though. Maybe we can put some LED strips in too.

Yeah? You think?

[Not in a million years.]

Maybe some glow in the dark lipstick to match. Go full-on Hot Topic native.

If your magic still works here, why not? It could help you blend in better, right?
earlybird: (convo: bad decisions)

[personal profile] earlybird 2015-04-09 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
They didn't. Defenders defend, Miners mine.

[ Duh. What would they do, instead? ]

The Miner I'm talking to seems to dislike the Defenders, as well. Could be indicative of a wider sentiment. I think we're in the middle of some class tensions.

[ Class, heh. Like in programming--

(He thinks he's clever.) ]
abweichend: (005)

[personal profile] abweichend 2015-04-09 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. [Military Police level douchebags, from what he's seen.

Not that he's biased, or anything.]
They're all over us.

[He doesn't really blame them- bunch of strangers show up out of nowhere and anyone with a processor brain would be suspicious- but it's pretty annoying to have this much heat on them right from the start. The Trumps could have at least given them the benefit of subtlety, shit.]

Do you know if there's anything we're all telling them about why we're here? [Seems like a good idea to get their story straight... Although:] It might be smarter to play it off like it's a coincidence we all arrived at the same time, so it looks less like they're being invaded.
earlybird: (fight: futile)

[personal profile] earlybird 2015-04-09 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[ There's Grayson. Damian figured, with how he'd been flitting about, that he probably wasn't one of the changed ones. Not like Todd.

(Good job, Todd. First round in and he's already beating you at this. #winning) ]

Cryptos are the green ones, right?

[ Deduction. There's only so many colors present. ]

Not all of them. That woman sounded pretty pleased. 'Greetings, Programs!'

[ The imitation of ROSE's voice is flawless, and entirely sneered. ]

But the reds, however -- military formation, armed. Definitely hostile.
turbedon: (act like this)

[personal profile] turbedon 2015-04-09 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, ROSE? I'm... not too sure what the deal is with her. I thought she was one of us before but she's still her here without remembering Liminal Space. Might want to keep an eye on her.

As for the Defenders, definitely military. Not all are hostile from what I can see but they're not sure what to make of us. Can't really blame them when a bunch of unknown Variables show up out of no where, right?
backwordscompatible: (peripheral glance)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2015-04-09 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Blending in by literally glowing in the dark. Who knew?

What about you? What's the wardrobe looking like?
backwordscompatible: (I know what this calls for....)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2015-04-09 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
And you never will know until you get yourself out there.
backwordscompatible: (excuse you)

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2015-04-09 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Impressive, let alone for someone who claimed not to know computers.]

Classification based on color. Useful. If it's accurate, that is.

Everyone keeps calling me a Variable or something, so I guess I haven't been classified yet. ...do you think we should be?
earlybird: (convo: dismissive)

[personal profile] earlybird 2015-04-09 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I intended to, anyway.

[ First speaker means ambassador, means position of power, means someone to watch.

(Just like a stake-out, picking out the leaders from the cronies and middlemen. Pssht, he's got this.) ]

True. Hopefully there won't be any incidents. Last thing we need is an itchy trigger finger causing a shoot-out.

[ It only takes one idiot. ]

One of ours is among them, too. Have you met Red Hood, yet?
leftbehindagain: (oh good)

[personal profile] leftbehindagain 2015-04-09 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, when all we have to go on is 'millicycles' and no sense of how long those are, it's going to be a little tricky to figure that out. Still, at least you have some of it to work with - better than nothing, right?
