[backdated to April 5th] - Pre Jaunt
Hey hey, testing [ There's a pause for a moment, like he's maybe waiting for a response but not too long, since he starts talking again. ] Is this working? There's not some limiting range or anything right?
[ At the moment, he's pretty glad that talking in other peoples minds isn't a new experience for him, or it might have been too much to handle. Especially since he's kinda putting himself out there for a very important reason. ]
Anyway, I heard there's no food here and there's a way to pull it out of thin air. Anyone interested in teaching me how to do that? I make good on my favors and I'd owe you one.

Or he could be as unhelpful as possible, and amuse himself at West's expense. ]
Robin didn't tell you? It's simple.
[ Damian is a terrible actor, but with mental voices no one can see the wicked, toothy smirk on his face. ]
Just picture what food you want, and once you have the image in your mind, command it into existence by yelling its name and holding out your hand.
I've seen someone create an entire, home-cooked meal, but it's easiest with branded goods. Start small.
no subject
That's it? I just... make it happen? Rob made it sound like it would be hard.
[ Nope. He's totally not getting the hint that Damian knows him. Yet. ]
no subject
[ He, personally, actually has no idea how it's done, aside from it being an ability that can be gained somehow. His time in Liminal Space has been snack-free so far -- but a few hours for him aren't the problem they are for a speedster.
(Besides, ask for someone to share? Never. Unthinkable.) ]
Go ahead, give it a try.
[ He can't pull off sincere encouragement, but he's just fine with the challenging drawl, instead. ]
The first few attempts might not result in much, of course. It takes focus.
[ Was that a dig? Maybe. Probably. Yes. ]
no subject
Dude, I can focus! Especially if it's for this.
[ If only people could hear the growl of his stomach... ]
no subject
Hm, Batman's files suggested otherwise. However, given that your very survival does depend on being able to provide sustenance for yourself without scrounging for scraps...
[ It is becoming rapidly apparent that this kid is an asshole. Damian could never keep up a pretense for long. ]

[And they'd been on some pretty far-ranging Jaunts in the past, so he doubted there was one at all.]
If you practice enough, you can make whatever you want.
[And that pause means there's a 'but' coming.]
It won't be real though. If you want actual food, you'll have to learn to store it, and pick some up when we're not in liminal space. Or convince someone to share, I guess.

Good luck with that, though.

[ He's really trying to avoid having to say anything about his metabilsim... ]
no subject
...who also tries not to talk about that, okay, that's fair.]
It took me a few months to get the hang of it. That's with plenty of other shit to worry about, mind. I might've taken the long away around, but learning how to portal in and out of Liminal Space first made working with Liminal Space itself come a lot easier. I don't know if you'd actually be able to cut that out of the learning process.

[...okay, granted, even with her natural affinity for magic, she could only produce the nonnourishing kind of food. Still tasted pretty good, but if it was the Really Real Deal he was looking for...actually, she knew a guy.]
no subject
[ Whoops. Consider him an idiot because it should have probably been obvious to him. ]
I guess I shouldn't be surprised huh?
no subject
[Not yet. She was excellent at summoning food, so long as she knew of an item already in existence and precisely where to pull it from. But creating something from nothing? Still an ability beyond her grasp at this stage of her power levels.]
But I know someone who does. My grandfather.
no subject
Wait. Hold up a minute here. Is your Grandfather the guy with the workshop? Because I think Rob mentioned him yesterday. [ Nevermind the fact that Zatanna's grandfather was even here in the first place. ] He must be cool peeps if he can do a bunch of stuff.
no subject
[Not even that surprised Robin had mentioned him. The guy basically ran a Liminal Space Bed and Breakfast.]
Well, dad and I had to get it from somewhere.
no subject
[ There's a forced suave laugh, like maaaaybe he doesn't know how to laugh all suave-like. ]
Sooo... when do I get to meet your Grandfather?
no subject
Up to you.
He's busy a lot, but he did set up a room for me at his workshop. Robin's been crashing there since last Liminal Space. [Partially as a way of hiding from Tim. Long Story.] You're welcome to join us, if you like.
no subject
If there was popcorn around. ]
Probably soon? Unless you know someone else who could help in the food department...
[ Actually he's never gone this long without food. Not even when he was a normal boy. If 'normal' is something anyone could ever call Wally.
But he gives the crashing thing some thought and decides it's probably best not to get up in Robin's space. Secret identity thing and all. Which kinda makes him wonder about whether Zatanna knows or not, but naaah. Couldn't, right? Plus he's a gentleman in the long run. ]
Kinda my priority over sleep for now.
no subject
[They could make a night of it.]
I didn't say we were going to sleep now.
...actually, that's the weird thing. I mean, unless I'm over-exerting myself, I don't really get that tired here. Or hungry. Not until I have actual food in front of me.
no subject
Really? I'm starving but I'm kinda always hungry anyway. Plus I've been looking around. I heard this place gets crazy so I don't want anything jumping out at me.
no subject
Am I the only one seeing the irony here?

Any idea where you are now? We can meet up and I'll show you how to find the workshop. Trust me: after the first time, it won't be hard to miss.
