This is Ringabel, and I seem to be quite myself. Who else is in possession of their true memories?

I've found myself outside of the curtain wall of a castle on a floating isle. I smell brimstone and saltpeter, and there's a fleet of airships here coming from the direction of the rising sun.

Yet we're among cheering and laughing children barely old enough to lift a sword, and the mood is jovial. What have we stepped into this time?

I'd like to know what I can so as to avoid drawing undue attention to myself. Fortunately, a Black Mage's robes seem to be in fashionable style here, so my first mistake was not fatal.

Woods-dogs... wolves? Coyotes? Oh! ...I think there are wolverines?

Canada has a Prime Minister! And technically, it has the same Queen as England does, it started out as an English colony but now it's pretty much independent and she's just on the money and we take care of our own government. It's a democracy! And the capitol is Ottawa, in the province of Ontario!

...you're really lucky you're not saying you're from the United States. There's fifty of those. We've just got thirteen different things to memorize.

Maybe that's why nobody is looking at Kiga funny. Woods-dogs are really rare at home, and he's prone to giving people a bit of a startle!

So a Queen, but not really-- Sounds a bit like Thalnia then. Ottawa... do you know what it's like there? Claiming to be from the capital might be a bit much, but unless there's a province that's really out of the way and with not many people, it's probably better to claim to be from somewhere that one of us knows.

[There's something like a mental shrug.] Better than trying to keep all the duchies in Cassori straight, sounds like.

Most people wouldn't have wolves as pets, and probably not wolverines... but you know what? People from other countries think that's what Canadians actually do. It's... it's the stereotype, that we're all tough and wear flannel and live in the woods and have big dogs and play hockey and...

[Okay, deep breath, let's not dump too much.]

...you could be from Prince Edward Island! It's very small, and it's out of the way, and if you have to make something up, I don't think anyone's going to call you on it.

Well, I think I can play the part of being tougher than I look and having lived in the woods, if that's what'll make people be unsuspicious.

Prince Edward Island, though! Do you know anything else about it? It's better to have an idea than to make things up completely.
