This is Ringabel, and I seem to be quite myself. Who else is in possession of their true memories?

I've found myself outside of the curtain wall of a castle on a floating isle. I smell brimstone and saltpeter, and there's a fleet of airships here coming from the direction of the rising sun.

Yet we're among cheering and laughing children barely old enough to lift a sword, and the mood is jovial. What have we stepped into this time?

I'd like to know what I can so as to avoid drawing undue attention to myself. Fortunately, a Black Mage's robes seem to be in fashionable style here, so my first mistake was not fatal.

Oh boy. Well... uh. Sounds like Dakki gave you some overview, but I can pop back to Liminal and get you a map, maybe? There's a lot of people who speak French there - the province I'm from is the one that speaks the most French but I can't help you with that. I'm not very good at French at all. But it has a lot of leftover influences from Europe and then it gets influenced by America a lot...

... And honestly knowing how Americans tend to act collectively when they're trying to be impressive? If you just sigh and look exasperated by any overt shows of patriotism that'll get you pretty far as being a convincing Canadian, really.

A map would be a good thing to have, I think. Wouldn't want to say I was from the north, but find out later the place I claimed to be from was in the west instead.

French... where have I heard about that language before...

[Pod suddenly giggles.] I think I've got that down already. That display was a bit much, even for mages!

Yeah. If you have a question, just ask. I'm not great at geography, but Canadian geography is easier than American geography. America's got way too many states. We don't have nearly as many provinces.

French is from France. It's a country... pretty close to England? So there might be people who speak French here. Quebec was settled by the French rather than the English who took a lot more of the other parts of Canada.
