... Right. Someone needs to keep eyes on Edward while the final event is going on. I had another dream.

It was a maze, and the walls were cloud tinted to look like the British flag. There was a huge stampede of corgis, too. ... So we might want to keep an eye on Phillip as well. Anyway, there was sinister cackling and I looked up, and there was Edward and two other people with features I couldn't make out. They were all wearing hooded black robes.

We're heading into the last part of the Jaunt, aren't we? This is where shit usually hits the fan. We'll see how this goes. I'm not betting on it being as simple as things might appear.

I'll find somewhere high up where I can see as much of it as possible. Maybe I can dive on anyone who interferes, and people will just assume it's part of the challenge.

He can see from pretty far off. Or... he should be able to, at least in this form. He's not happy about being a mechanical bird right now.

I'm sure he's not. Azure wouldn't be, either, if she was stuck out here in something mechanical.

She's stuck in liminal instead, which isn't a lot better.

Bob and I have a weird bond that might make it rough to have us separated, so I'm glad he's with me, at least...

Azure is a flightless bird that's probably eight paces high at the top of her head. They'll have to change her into something to make her work just about anywhere, I think.

What's your bond thing like?

... Hm. It's... difficult to explain. It's like... soul-deep, really. He helps me with my work in a lot of ways, and I can even hop into his body and take it for a ride.

Hop into it? Like how we do when we're infiltrating? What happens to your body when you do that?

Kind of? I think? And my body just stays where it is. I try to sit down before I do it.

Huh. So maybe it's more like that sharing senses thing, then, than the infiltration thing.

... Keep an eye on Phillip. If he tries anything with the maze, don't let him.

Not everything can be fixed by fighting. There's other ways to solve problems.

... I know that there are many problems that should not be solved by fighting, but diplomacy is not my strong suite. Or investigation. Or anything that would be useful here.

You can tail people though, can't you? Distract him, do something if he looks like he's getting near the maze. And it's not like you'll be in this alone - you can ask other people to pick up the trail when you can't follow.

I can tail someone without being spotted easily enough; that is child's play. Why would I not be able to follow all the way?

I dunno. You're in a human form, so I have no idea what you're restricted on.

For one, I cannot see in the dark so well--but my eyesight is better in general, I believe. Another, I am not nearly as graceful. But humans have poor ears compared to elves, so I can still move quietly enough.

Ah, okay. I didn't want to assume. You've had that form for a while, so I guess I should have figured you'd adjusted. ... But let me know if you run into any trouble.

I will let you know, thank you. ... I suppose I should be a little more forthcoming to my current capabilities; I believe I've told almost no one how my human forms differ.

[He's pretty sure it's NOT them but there are certain things you have to be absolutely sure about. And one of those is making sure the Auditors of reality are nowhere near a mess like this.

... And did they? I have no idea. I haven't run into either of them for a bit...

YES. I SPOKE TO HIM FOR A WHILE WHEN I FIRST ARRIVED AND HE ANSWERED A LOT OF QUESTIONS I HAD. HE WAS QUITE HELPFUL.

[Even if he did make a giant group of corgi's appear. Which if you're A. not a dog person and B. literally made of bones, is not the best combination.]
