I have been informed by Naoki that on the Jaunt they are troubled by a computer disease that uses the tiny people to spread itself and I am greatly disturbed by the report. Because of this, I am asking if there is anyone with the power to bridge between worlds to take me Jaunt-ward.

Tachibana. As much as I regret the need to ask you this, I know that you have many healing powers. Should I find transport, will you forsake this skiing holiday to come with me to the Jaunt?

Helena, I am sorry to do this, but I do not feel I can ignore this danger. Even so, I have had a truly wonderful time with you here at Levi--despite the whole fox incident.

As I understand it, bridging yourself and bridging with others are two different actions, each of which you may do once. So you can take us and then use your solitary bridge to return.

So the Automata are still a problem. No surprise there.

You're not going to be able to heal them, any more than you could cure us of our Marks.

I doubt that I can heal them, but I mislike staying here idle while there are people I care about in danger on the Jaunt. And Tachibana has the gifts of a god. If he cannot heal, then at least he might be able to treat.

That only means there are two plagues to worry about, not one. And given the way that world works, they've more in common with a god's curse than a natural illness.

I can sympathize with the urge to protect those you care about, but what skills can you bring to bear in that world that would make you an asset, and not just another potential host through which the plague could spread?

If there is fighting--and there infrequently is on these Jaunts--I know full well how to use a sword. I also know how to use the handguns of the future and I am in possession of both blade and gun. I have been a soldier in a border war and I am familiar with siege tactics, if the Travelers need to resort to such in order to keep from being infected.

And I am not so proud that I cannot follow the direction of those who do better understand the nature of these Trojans and this disease. I will do what they need of me.

Still. I cannot stay idle here knowing that they are in danger. I have waited in safety while others emperiled themselves far too often as it is.
