because it's no fun if your graffiti goes AWAY

Sooooooo, I was wondering: is there any way to write or draw on liminal space and make it stick?

[Someone's grumpy that all the dicks she drew on people's signs vanished.]

Hm. That's an interesting question, actually! We can make objects that are "real" with greater focus and attention to detail - it's how we make food and drink, among other things. But for writing or art you'd also need to make the medium upon which you're drawing it "real" or else that part would disappear from under it, wouldn't it?

And then of course, there's true object permanence that persists despite the mental state of the creator, which is somewhat more advanced, but doesn't bypass the need to create real paper to write on first.

It's true...however, the same skill that invests objects you create with "reality" as opposed to "Liminality" can also be used on other Liminal constructs. I should still have a few dresses stashed from one time when we were on a cruise ship...

So if you were that desperate to deface something the Arcana provided us with, it could be used that way.

Well, it's never too late, or early, to learn. It's a fairly simple trick if you know how to manifest impermanent things already. Do you know that much, or are you starting from scratch here?

Oh dear. You've been going without a great source of entertainment so far.

[Also food, but]

Well, even if you know nothing else of Liminal nature, it shouldn't be difficult to figure out with a week or two's practice at most. Tell me, do you come from a world with magic?

Oh! I've met Caleb. We've had a few discussions of this nature, actually, albeit more revolving around me being extra pretentious about the metaphysical nature of Liminality.

So...a cleric is a magical priestess, yes? Do you "cast spells" the same way as others do? A formalized ritual empowered by will?

Sympathetic magic was a mistake.

But at any rate, let's just say that the world here is more malleable. You don't need bat shit or gods or even a ritual to enforce your will upon Liminal Space, merely a focused, conscious effort, and a detailed mental image of what you want to create. It's similar to my own personal magic in that way, but in Liminal Space, anyone can accomplish it once their minds are properly framed.

...you know, I'm not sure he's up to speed on these details. I never asked, I just jumped straight into off-brand Platonic Realism.

Well, he's a wizard, he'll figure it out eventually if he hasn't already.

Yeah. I picked that stuff up right away, when I was still worried about drowning in the fake water that kept filling everything up.

Ah, good. My faith in the insight of wizards who carry around bat droppings remains unshaken.

Having a three year old is much easier if she can draw on the walls without my having to worry about cleaning it off.

If it were just her room that would be different.
