Sento here. I appear to be some sort of dragon-person, which is really not on-theme, and I have to disapprove, even if the colors are right.

At any rate, the state of the mathematics here is rather deplorable, so I suppose it's for the best a genius has been deposited into everyone's midst.

We'd need an electromagnetic pulse of some sort, most likely. That would be child's play.

I think the bugs are cameras. There's been talk of 'the gods watching' and the bugs are definitely not alive.

Really.

[Sento's tone changes a bit. It's serious time now.]

That's a little stickier, then. If I can slip into Liminal unseen, I could build something that we could use to disable a camera in general, and then I could sneak one back for further analysis...but it would be difficult to tell if that worked on something that small right off the bat. I could, for example, disable its motor functions but the broadcast could work regardless if it was shielded better than I'd anticipated at that size.

I can basically make a flashbang. If they're near water I might be able to fry them if they're electronics and not something weirder.

That could temporarily blind their sensors, that's something.

Do they show up in the rain? They may already be waterproof.

I don't know. They might. It has to rain here at some point...

Now, if we could observe them out in a thunderstorm, see how they do with electricity in a natural setting...

What are the odds that that an Aetherial disturbance would take them out? If these are simply 'Cameras' then they won't be able to pick up on magic I cast. If I'm not flashy about it, I can cast a stunning spell relatively easily.

No idea. I don't even really know how magic and technology interact in my own world, much less another...

Magic isn't something I've ever had good results with, myself. Too difficult to get any hard scientific data on...

I suppose it's worth a try, though I hesitate to bring any possibly-functional cameras back to Liminal and my lab. I'd imagine Liminal might jam their signal, though, there is that.

I know magic can be used in a lab setting, so they can be used together... but that's my dad's field and he's an awful person, so I doubt you'd get any good information from him. Most of what I saw was... uh. Not the ethical kind of science.

Ah, I've been witness to that kind of science more than I'd like, myself.

At any rate, now doesn't seem to be the time for me to be experimenting with technique.

I could just zap the things. I got a skill that channels electrical power outa liminal space.

If you zap them, then I could bring a few specimens into Liminal for examination. My lab's capable, even if I'll have to beef up the magnification equipment.

Let me see if I can just zap a couple and make it look like an accident. Don't wanna tip our hand too soon and bring down punishment.

That's probably more subtle than my approach; I started loudly talking about all the gas I was having and going into more detail than I should have, and I acquired quite a bit of privacy that way.
