I intend to bridge the psychic divide to find out more about what's happening Jaunt-side and to pass on information about this place.

Does anyone have any message to pass on or ideas on questions to ask those Jaunt-side about their status?

You need to tell Beato that we're at magic school and it's the bestest! Also, ask her if she has any tips on writing Epitaphs. I'm writing one for the Queen and I'm trying to make it so whoever solves it first gets all her stuff magically. Ask her about magical inheriting stuff!

Seconding asking about whether they need supplies and/or skills. And a general update on the situation, since the last time we were in that world, we had to contend with Cannibal Zombie Mermaid Disease and a Doomwhale.

The disease started out with the mermaids, although I don't know if it's something their empress engineered or if she just took advantage of it. It forced mermaids who contracted it to feed off of intelligent life like dolphins, humans, and other mermaids - if they didn't, they'd go out of control and start frenzying. Sirens could calm them down, at least up to a point. Mermaids who contracted it were called Stricken.

The Doomwhale was what we called the mostly-undead Stricken-infected whale that the empress used to stimulate the disease and make it spread during that particular Jaunt. At one point, it jumped species and started infecting humans, at which point all hell pretty much broke loose. A group of Travelers did manage to find both a cure and a vaccine, but that only helped the infected on Crownbreaker Isle, which is where the Jaunt took place, and we don't know if this Jaunt is even taking place there, much less whether they still have any vaccine left.

I'm not certain what I was expecting, but that most certainly wasn't it. I see that recent Jaunts have been more tame than previous ones. And you say they're most certainly in the same world with Stricken?

I don't think I can say with 100% certainty without confirmation from the other side, but it seems pretty likely.

From what I understand, the Stricken were originally supposed to act as her shock troops, with the Sirens keeping them managed, before a group of mermaids escaped captivity, hooked up with a collection of human pirates and dissidents, and took refuge on Crownbreaker Island.

Like all plans, there were complications. Good ones, in this case.

She apparently sicced a kraken on them during the first Jaunt. The second Jaunt was something of an escalation.

Oh, lovely. We can only hope they landed someplace far away from her if they're in that world again.

...Of course, the last time that happened they landed in the Bando Peninsula right when things were gearing up for a rebellion, so it's probably chaos either way.

Perhaps I should amend my wish to "I hope they land in a place where things are quiet and without any major political intrigue."
