[After some time has passed Levi's voice filters across the network, accompanied by the only visual he can provide at this point: a top-down view of his now only partially tattooed hand.
He'll keep this brief:]
Looks like my little stowaway from the Grid can clean this shit up too. It takes a minute, but it's painless-- [a pause as the aforementioned stowaway floats toward Levi's face for its close-up, glowing a faint white and puffed proudly in all its pokey glory until he shoos it off to the side with a huff] Knock it off-- ...The Bit doesn't care what they say, and neither do I.
I'm not hard to find-- [Here he gives the general location of the building he's created, which by now is a bit better suited for company- there will be a pot ofnon-nourishing tea waiting on an end table for anyone stopping by for Bit-laser tattoo removal.
And the public portion almost ends there, but before Levi changes his psychic filter:]
...Tell me where you are if you can't make it out here. I'll find you, I guess.
[The rest is private, directed to Erwin in particular and as neutral as Levi can manage given the circumstances:]
You too.
[[ooc: Handwave, chat, go to him, have him come to you... Anything is good by me, including newbies asking for info if they haven't gotten the welcome speech yet. Dat vet thing. He can probably do that now.]]

B L E S S oh my god
...Does it talk?
[A CHEERLEADER BIT??
...Levi's having a hard time imagining what a Bit's speaking voice might sound like. His own just sort of... Chirps and makes a strange, soft little whirring sound when he lets it flop across his shoes, and translating that into speech is... Bizarre and probably insanely squeaky and irritating.]

[ and then the visual link goes both ways, showing the interior of Leonardo's workshop. a Bit shaped like a slightly pulsating geodesic sphere floats into view, bleeping softly as it crunches data. ]
TOTO, can you talk? [ the reply comes back in a digitized tone: ] Yes! Can you say anything besides yes and no? No. Are you sure about that? ...yes!
[ that last carries a hint of well duh to it. ]
Pretty simple but... it knows it's stuff.
no subject
[...Appropriate for him, really.
In any case, sensing the other Bit's presence, U drifts in front of Levi's face again, bouncing up and down in a Navi-like fashion while emitting a few enthused little chirps.
HELLO NEW FRIENDS!!]
...But there's a lot of that.
[Exuberant little bastard... Calm down, will
Uyou? You're giving him a headache...]no subject
Ditto. And... [ oh, RIGHT, words we don't like and this is a video feed now so Ambrose withdraws his. ] M-maybe I do want a thing or two taken off, but... mostly I think our little friends should be friendly. I can... find you, if that's all right?
[ TOTO likes this and goes into a bouncy little yes yes yes! frenzy until it is poked again. ]
dial up modem just leave me here to die HOW CUTE
Sure. Once you're outside let me know, I'll lead you here.
[U (clearly just as pleased about all this as TOTO) isn't the only thing to have come back with Levi from the Grid. Just let him dig through Hammerspace real quick...]
it had to be done~
[ and so via the power of handwaving Ambose and TOTO (and the little bag of watch batteries that serve as Bitty Snacks) make their way to Levi's establishment, conveniently without getting run over. along the way Ambrose decides he really needs to figure out room creation for himself and also that he needs to get better acquainted with his fellow Travelers, especially ones that have been around for nearly an entire annual. ]
[knock knock? ]
BLESS also fuck that first link lmfao THE AUDIO IS ON THE PAGE GDI rabble rabble.....
It shoots right past Levi and Ambrose both, bobbing and blooping excitedly (HI FRIEND HI FRIEND HI FRIEND HI FRIEND LET'S CLEAN LET'S CLEAN LET'S CLEAN!!!!!!) as it bumps itself all the fuck over its new friend's everything while Levi looks on in silent, subdued horror.
How this guy attracted something with so much energy will forever remain a mystery. It's as bad as Hange for crying out loud...]
...
[Under all of that :|, Levi actually might feel a little bad. Has it been lonely since they returned from the Grid...?]
saabduqjin
[ Ambrose watches all this, mostly without comprehension, and gives Levi a shrug and smile. not smart enough is plastered directly on his forehead, more prominent than the scattered guilt. hi there? ]
Well. Glad to see they're getting along.
[ he offers his hand for shaking. his palm reads plays god. good luck with that. ]
no subject
It's a very, very simple program when you get right down to it, and it's content to hover around TOTO and bloop-chat until Levi commands it otherwise.
In his own way, Levi does the same, taking Ambrose's hand in a surprisingly strong shake. He doesn't appear bothered in the least by any of the tattoos... Though his eyes do scan them and he makes no effort to disguise that. U can fix that right up, he's confident enough in that.]
I guess we'd know if they weren't. [U is... Very vocal when it isn't happy about something. Very... Very vocal.
It's in Levi's best interests to keep the damn thing happy, is what we're saying here.] You know if they're the only two that came back?
no subject
[ meanwhile the return handshake is also firm but kind, pure politician or diplomat although there are calluses on Ambrose's hands. he's refined but he still works. ]
For a while, I thought TOTO was the only one. I sorta decided folks were more attached to their lightcycles than their Bits.
[ let's be real, who wouldn't be? ]
no subject
Flattening into what looks like a pixelated swiffer sweeper, the Bit flattens itself into the corner with a slight, vacuum-like hum.
Whistle while you work!!!!Levi notices, but ignores them for now. Multiple... Whatever-they-ares trained in cleaning can't be a bad thing, right?]
I probably wouldn't have thought to take it back myself, even if it was pretty useful back on the Grid. [And even if he was kind of fond of the little thing...] I didn't really like the lightcycles enough to bother, too jerky.
[Says the dude who literally jerks all over the place on the daily.... Maybe it's just a bad association- passing out on one because of a bump after being blown up might have a little something to do with it...] Anyway, it's been useful enough here too that I'm not too pissed off to be saddled with looking after it.
[The concept that it's a robot, while something Levi kind of understands, doesn't seem to be applying here- it's pretty much a pet at this point, like a bird or dog to hunt with only less dirty.]
no subject
[meanwhile Ambrose too is… focusing his attention elsewhere. Bits gonna Bit, and his own feelings re: lightcycles are… complicated, so he nods along with Levi’s assessment. ]
I like the company, myself. TOTO was pretty much the best thing about that Jaunt for me. [ the Grid was pretty much a total drag okay. he glances around the spotless room and nods, smiling. ] I’m glad yours has grown on you, it’s obviously doing a good job here.
no subject
...Levi side eyes this entire exchange, though he still doesn't interrupt. Bits gonna Bit, exactly.]
It is. I don't mind doing it myself but even I can't reach everywhere. [Erwin's giving him the cold shoulder right now, so without the Bit... Who'd get the dust off of the top shelf?
Don't get him wrong he'll stand on a chair if he has to. Sob.] Anyway, those markings- where do you want it to start?[Again Levi's eyes flick across the words, again he refuses to comment on them unless Ambrose brings them up first. The remaining sins on his own arms are on display, should Ambrose want to return the favor: CRUEL and RUDE and RUNT are prominent, as are TWISTED and ABERRANT; all things that are pretty much apparent anyway, things he'd seen as secondary to the other, more personal accusations.]
no subject
speakingBitting. ][ for his part Ambrose is mostly taking the “the first rule of sin tattoos is do not talk about sin tattoos” route though he observes Levi’s marks with… curious empathy? Something like that. The words on his own skin are mostly failings he perceives in himself, things Daneel had called lies even if he’s not so sure. If he were more clever he’d have solved the last jaunt and spared them all this unpleasantness, or at least done more to help prevent it. ]
[ hidden under his shirt, another guilt blooms within loop of the Fool’s mark. ]
This one’s gotta go. [ he brushes a hand across his brow as if to wipe the not smart enough away himself. ] It’s… complicated for me but upsetting to folks I care about, better to keep it from being advertised.
no subject
For the most part, Levi's own markings are similar, and the ones left over are mostly things that are readily apparent (the rudeness is usually obvious enough less than ten minutes into a conversation with him and he's very clearly extremely short) anyway. He'd done away with the most offensive like LAZY, (because it's just not true) and COWARD (because it's too true- the placement sure as hell wasn't lost on Levi), and the rest... Eh.
He nods at the mark Ambrose chooses, and while he didn't need an explanation he hums anyway.]
It's pretty loud. What a pain in the ass... U-- [He waves the Bit over. Time to get to work, pal. No more
adorablelollygagging.] Were you listening? Take care of it.[U, being the ever-obedient Bit that it is, is on Ambrose in a second (though thankfully not with as much force as he'd used to tackle TOTO earlier), melting into a flatter form to be of the quickest assistance.
...Sorry about your vision, Ambrose. That's probably more of U than you ever needed to see.
It's a good thing it's a blob, otherwise this could be pretty awkward.]
no subject
[ this is new and weird and he should have been prepared but really what can prepare one for having their face being enveloped by a Bit? this isn't behavior TOTO has exhibited (though it is now orbiting and observing, crunch crunch nummy data) and it's... weird.
it also tickles. ]
...well, I'll take tickles over whatever laser removal feels like.
no subject
'Laser removal'?
[He doesn't know what a laser is let alone however unpleasant the sensation might be...
But he's getting the impression it's unfortunate, and he's... Morbidly intrigued.]
no subject
Oh, it's... how we usually do tattoo removal where I'm from. Specialized concentrated light beam that breaks down the ink under the skin, it takes a few sessions to get it to fade. I'm told it stings like craz- TOTO!
[ TOTO's learned enough and gloms onto Ambrose's left hand. naive does not need to be there, obviously. ] All right, fine, thank you.
no subject
Concentrated... Light? What does that even mean how would you even...
He might have pressed more, actually, if not for TOTO's distracting mimicry; instead of a question, Ambrose gets a snort.
Not that it's audible over U's (somewhat strained but no less excited for it) bleeps of YES YES YES once it catches on to TOTO's attempts.]
Huh. Guess they really can pick up new functions here, even the advanced kinds... I don't think that was the case back on the Grid, not with-- shit, what do you call those... Updates. That's it, right? Or is it reprogramming. They sound like the same thing to me.
no subject
Upgrade’ll do. I think we were all too busy running around trying not to get derezzed for them to focus on anything but… it makes sense. [ Ambrose hestures with his free hand while working through this. ] Bits work in binaries, yes and no. There’s dirt or ink or whatever – yes – and we’d like them to get rid of it – no – so that’s not too difficult for them to pick up. Or that’s my theory for now.
no subject
Better theory than any I've come up with. [Looks like at least one of those tattoos was bullshit; Ambrose seems plenty informed to Levi.
Finally convinced that the Bit(s) will work without him looming over them and cracking the whip, Levi moves to settle himself down into the nearest chair, waving Ambrose over to the one he creates in the space of a blink. It'll probably be quicker now with the two of them working, but still...
At this point, all semblance of formality is long gone. It's chill time.]
Sounds like you didn't like that place much.
no subject
Thank you, U. [ he will be leaving behind some watch batteries - they're like Scooby snacks but for Bits - when he eventually does take his leave but for now... yeah. sit, chat, relax, hesinks into the other chair with a nod and a sigh. ]
The Grid was... I infiltrated as a defective miner and spent a lot of time trying to see exactly how expendable I was, I guess. Got in a lot of trouble as a result.
no subject
There's a frown at 'defective' and a deeper frown at 'expendable'- though he's personally responsible for a pretty decent amount of casualties, he takes those losses more seriously than is really good for his mental health. THE MOST SERIOUS EXPRESSION EVER:]
No one is expendable. ...But that place did a pretty good job of making it seem otherwise. [The ranking of people (or programs) for factors beyond their control... He's mad about it.] But it was so much like where I come from that it was pretty easy to see through the bullshit as an Investigator.
[Hence his heavy involvement in the revolution. VIVA LA RESISTANCE!!!!]

Priority fourteen, demoted after... repurposing. I was part of a bundle-- a team, and was the only survivor of one expedition. Sorts skewed my sense of self-worth.
[ and this is all too familiar for TOTO who zooms right over to Ambrose and nuzzles his shoulder, repeating No until it gets petted into submisson. ]
Either way it... was tricky one for most of us, yeah. I can't imagine it being like home.
[ you're from another horribly fucked up world, aren't you Levi? ]
