[Is it possibly for a mental voice to sound giddy? Because there's a distinct giddy tinge to By's thoughts, for all that his words come out with his normal, lazy, lightly Russian-accented drawl.]
Byerly Vorrutyer here. We're on Earth, pre-spaceflight, although someone who isn't me will need to get a better read on the actual date and location. Linguistically, it's a hodgepodge. I can hear archaic Russian, a whole host of Asiatic and Romance languages, and something else I can't quite place.
If you can "hear" this, check in. We need to know who we've got to work with.

In any case, this is no Earth history I'm familiar with, which is going to make things... interesting. I'm keeping my ears open while I look around this market, to see if I can't find out anything more useful, but there's so much going on and a lot of it in languages I don't know that I don't think I'll get a whole lot.
Also still looking out for my friends, but so far I haven't seen any of them. [...Unless that showoff princess was supposed to be Naoto.
oh boy.]

I'll be keeping an eye out for those I know as well.

[Some time later, quietly enough that it's likely Naoki doesn't realise he's broadcasting it:]
Oh, come on, that's not even proper alchemy.

I suppose you would know, Konishi.

It sounds the same, they're using a lot of the same vocabulary and I can follow discussions right up until they get to results. And then I'm completely lost. This is something closer to standard chemistry, but not quite that either. [And they almost certainly can't turn lead into gold. It's like they're not even trying.
...On the other hand, this means not having to worry about someone else with the capability of making a Philosopher's Stone. Naoki barely trusts himself with that power.]
I wouldn't recommend trying half these concoctions. The side effects don't sound worth it.

Will you try to set yourself up as an alchemist here, then?

[The very idea, after Melasurei, leaves a bad taste in his mouth.]
