Is there anyone who can make edible stuff who'd be willing to help me with something? There's a few things I want to look into making, and I don't want to take the chance of it falling through because I don't have the right ingredients.

[The only person Naoki knows of off the top of his head who can do that is Leo, and he's not an option for... well. Reasons. Besides, he doesn't want to be stuck with one person who ends up infiltrating or on the other side of a jaunt-walkabout divide when he really needs something. As it is, he's going to have to look into somewhere to keep all this crap.]

It's for the sleep aids, mainly. I'm sorry it took me so long to get around to it. Kind of had bigger things to worry about during the jaunt, and you were infiltrating anyway. It shouldn't take long at all once I have some ingredients, though.

It's ok, things happen.

I'm in my room in the workshop, working on a list. Figured it was easier to do it that way than try to rattle everything off and hope people remember it.

[Not even ten minutes later, she knocks on the door. It's common courtesy.]

[It's not Constructive Enlightenment or anything, but Naoki's still focusing pretty intently on his work, so he appreciates the knock; it at least pulls him out enough to acknowledge the door.]

Hey. How're you holding up after that mess of a jaunt? Though I guess it wasn't that much of a mess for you, huh.

More like I made the mess.

[Just to be sure, she's closing the door.]

[So long as she's aware. It was an infiltration, he can't blame her for all that collateral damage the same way he's upset with Leo... but that doesn't mean it was any fun to deal with.

Naoki sighs.] Unfortunately, yes. Yes, it was. Malik-san tried to give people advice for dealing with the Caliphate if we needed to, and it kinda... spiraled out of control from there. Zed-san was the only one stupid enough to try, though, and he got tossed in jail for his trouble.

...maybe next time, they should watch folks because cultures can be different in jaunts. Or maybe they might shut up if their pants get stolen next time.

[He can hear the facepalm in the line and gods Yua is not amused.]

I'm even surprised we managed to do whatever it was that was needed.

I'm just as surprised as you are. Maybe we didn't fail, but we sure made a hash out of working together on the damn thing.

[He sighs, and hands Yua the first list he has finished.] That should do it for the sleep aids. A few of the other people who volunteered want some drinks, but I can get that stuff later.

Everything is surprising me today...and I've been doing this traveler thing for a long time.

[Looking at that list now.]

Lucky that we both infiltrated during Melasurei otherwise I may not know what some of these ingredients looked like.

I'll be able to describe them for everyone else, at least. But I'm sure there was a point somewhere in there that you helped me make something anyway. [There wasn't much of anyone else he would have trusted to do it.]

I miss the bar sometimes. It was... I think it did me a lot of good, for all the jaunt was a failure. Proved I can handle it.

Considering everything, it doesn't surprise me.

To be honest, Melasurei felt...a bit like home to me. But I wish I knew what exactly happened after we left.

[She had family, friends, a place she could call home...but even after that, she has noticed the strings connecting her to some people like Adachi and Naoki have gotten stronger. She has that world to thank for it.]

[Naoki sighs. He's not going to tell Yua exactly what happened - she needs to not go on a rampage, especially if she still has any souvenirs from Nova Venezia. But that Liminal was pretty unambiguous on the failure front regardless.]

If they were very, very lucky, just another riot. Lyall-sensei said whatever was sending his visions was happy with the outcome, so it could have been worse, I guess. I just hope something's still standing.

[It's not like she's going to use napalm bombs like whoa!]

Me too...I would like to go back someday.

Well, at the rate things are going, we might get a chance to set things right.
