I probably should let someone know there's herd of dragons on the move here, making a terrible mess of the tournament-grounds between Rivergard & Westgard. Bit bigger than the last ones, although not as many! Thank the Maker for small favors.

Does anyone know what you call a venery of dragons, by the way? I've always wondered*.

What's a Tiefling?

Uh, well, me. I'm a tiefling.

[She sounds vaguely baffled, because she's very rarely had to explain herself, especially not to somebody who actually knows what a dragon is, too. As a result, the answer turns out kind of rambly.]

It means good old grampa lived in the lower planes. You know, he was a demon. Well, probably grandpa, since I don't think I've got succubus in me-- probably a fiend of some sort. I've got my suspicions.

[ Oh. Well, this ...certainly complicates matters. Also confuses them deeply, because nowhere in Hawke's base of knowledge can demons have children, what with being Fade spirits and all. Granted, there are other issues, like how demons tend to seek out mages and try to possess them, but he figures he's pretty safe from that, all the way over here. ]

Shouldn't you have a boomier voice, or be demanding virgin sacrifices or something?

I'm only part demon, and besides, there's all kinds! Not everyone sounds like they're trying to win a ghost-imitation competition. So unless your virgin is cute and the sacrifice is he's gonna treat me like his lady for a while, no, not interested.

[ Not accusatory, at least not yet, just interested. She's certainly not like any demon - part demon - he's ever met. For one thing she hasn't made any attempt to turn his mind into porridge and take over his body! ]

Nothing! I mean, nothing demon-like. I just have horns and a tail, that's all. And I can tell when there's demon magic or holy magic around, most of the time. Or paladins, definitely paladins. They make my teeth itch.

Well, smited at. They don't usually actually hit me, you know, or else I probably wouldn't be standing here. Or sitting here. You know what I mean. Paladins don't usually like tieflings. We count as "evil" no matter what we act like.

Well, nobody's done it in Neverwinter, anyway. Nobody except tieflings care about tieflings, and even most of us don't really get along. So we just muddle along, I guess.
