Okay, okay, so, everyone stay the hell away from Matthew. I don't know what the hell he's doing, but he's some kind of monk, and he's talking to ghosts, and he and the ghosts are freaking terrifying and tried to kill me! And he was gonna interrogate me with this scary as hell tree-lady-ghost-thing who wanted my blood, and I barely got out of there alive!

...and...uh...he kind of startled the crap out of me, so I...ah...lost my tail, and I...er, well...he's...still got it...

Izanami's a god. Call her fae at your own peril. For one thing, she abides by her promises.

Some Fae like to call themselves gods too, if it suits their whim. And they're sticklers for contracts and promises and pledges and all sorts of stuff like that.

Summer Court. They're the fighty guys. I'm Winter--that's not my speed.

It's no whim. She's a god. The whim was calling herself a gas station attendant. [HAVE FUN BUYING GAS NOW.] As for the promise, my understanding of fae is that they really, really like breaking them. She keeps hers.

Left to my own devices I'm not much of a fighter. But there was no one else to do the job, and having made it that far I wasn't about to turn my back on Kanji.

But that all sounds exactly like something a True Fae would pull! Fae are all about promises. Twisted promises designed to stab you in the back or blow up in your face somehow, but seriously, there are all sorts of contracts and rules, it's just that some of them don't operate on logic the human mind can comprehend.

And oh, sticking with people...that's...that'll do it for some people.

She had no reason to roll back the fog if she had no intention of keeping her word. But she did. [Put it that way, she also didn't have any reason to resurrect the lot of them, and here they are...]

It sure will. We stuck with each other, and we stuck with humanity's better points after she set up her experiment to show off its worst points.

She was, in her way. It just came out sideways, and because she started from flawed parameters her result was flawed.

If you need a drink that badly, I have some extras hanging around from the holiday party, but you'd have to get to Liminal Space to pick it up. On the other hand, I think it's mostly Ragnaroks.

That's not a problem, I think the local hobs drafted me into bringing food back, anyway.

Probably. But in this case, it's a drink. Might have a few Divine Winds kicking around, too, but most everything else got spoken for at the party or immediately afterward, including the comparatively normal stuff.

[Part of Naoki is almost sad he didn't bother making any Kamui. It'd be a good laugh for... lots of people who aren't Jules. But he's not actually that mean-spirited, and besides, it's too much of a hassle to store in Traveling conditions.]

...look, there's a bunch of talking animals back in there that are hungry, and I don't know what else they'd be. They seem hobgoblin-like enough.

So where is this booze, then?

Probably spirit animals and whatnot that didn't get infiltrated along with their people. What do they look like?

Oh, geez, there were a lot of them...a griffin-thing, and some kind of annoying bat...I lose track.

Would...would you mind doing that?

...oh, no, Mr. Sparkles is unsupervised? [Better him than Zed unsupervised. ...probably. Doesn't really make it a less scary thought, though.] I suppose it's too much to hope there was a chirping moth around.

All right. Meet you there in five?

And no, I didn't see any moths. Just a praying mantis.

Damn. [But he's not going to wave his concern about Minako all over the network.]

Mr. Sparkles is the bat. He's Zed-san's, and of the two he's the more responsible one, but that's not saying much.

[And in five minutes' time, Naoki finds a quiet spot on the monastery grounds and slips into Liminal Space. He could have done without the whole cliffside thing, but he'll live. For the time being, he sticks to one of the boat-bridges.]

Wh--wait, wait, he's with that creepy as hell guy who rambles on about darkness? No, thanks.

[He'll be waiting on Naoki, happily perched on the railing of one of those boat bridges. The heights don't faze him at all, odd for someone as generally terrified of the world as Jules. He's just giving Naoki a cheerful wave.]

He's easily distracted by shiny objects. Just throw a disco ball or something at him and you'll be in good shape. ...Zed-san, that is, not Mr. Sparkles.

[Naoki blinks at the guy's apparently sudden calm, but just shrugs.] Well, at least there's one thing in the world you're not completely terrified of. Which did you want, Ragnarok or Divine Wind?

Yeah, I like heights. They're comfortable.

And...I dunno, Divine Wind sounds less apocalyptic.

Well, that depends on the apocalypse, I'd think.

[After a moment, Naoki fishes the drink in question out of his hammerspace and hands it over. It's greenish, and minty, and lives up to its name - the faster he drinks, the stronger the breeze.]

Well, fewer Vikings with that one, then.

[He eagerly takes that drink.]

[This would be a bad time to point out that the Japanese rendering of the drink's name would be 'kamikaze,' wouldn't it, given what that usually means to Westerners...]
