[Jaunt] That Monk is Terrifying
Okay, okay, so, everyone stay the hell away from Matthew. I don't know what the hell he's doing, but he's some kind of monk, and he's talking to ghosts, and he and the ghosts are freaking terrifying and tried to kill me! And he was gonna interrogate me with this scary as hell tree-lady-ghost-thing who wanted my blood, and I barely got out of there alive!
...and...uh...he kind of startled the crap out of me, so I...ah...lost my tail, and I...er, well...he's...still got it...

[It occurs to him that he has not seen or heard mention of any nonhuman spirits, aside from occasional references to dragons. He's probably going to have to be careful about who he summons for the time being.]
Were you injured? Aside from your tail, I mean.

And no, no, I'm fine. A couple bumps and bruises from when he dragged me in through the window, but nothing major.

I'm glad you weren't badly hurt.

Thanks. I'm mostly just glad I'm not dead, even if losing my tail is a pain in the ass.

[There's a joke to be made here about the loss of one's tail being a literal pain in the ass. Raidou opts not to.]
Not dead is generally good, yes. Losing your tail wasn't painful, was it?

And nah, I do that all the time. You know how lizards lose their tails to try to avoid predators? It's like that. Unpleasant, but it only stings a little.

Faeries in general are not to be trifled with. People forget that, I think.
[He still hasn't forgotten the faerie hunt outside of Harrogate. He still can't believe they'd gone out willingly.]
That's definitely better than the alternative.

[Education had come with a terrible price...]
It grows back, so it's not too much of a pain in the ass, at least.
[He knows exactly what he's doing with that turn of phrase. Exactly.]

[Even knowing better doesn't always help - not if you manage to gain their attention through no fault of your own. Raidou knows that from experience.
And yes, he is getting that impression from Jules' repetition of that particular turn of phrase. He's still going to ignore it, though.]
Good.

Come on, Raidou, it's funny! Funny turn of phrase! Worth a laugh...]

[When you regularly deal with the likes of Mara, you learn to tune these sorts of things out.]
...Of course, sometimes all the precautions in the world don't matter.

[Titania and her equally predatory husband can go hang, as far as he's concerned.]
