Late in the Third Jaunt Mingle, Another Report of Scary Things

Alright, alright, nowhere is safe! It's official, that's it, show's over, can we go home now? I am so done with all of this! So done!

Because Nakamiyo was supposed to be free of anyone who might want to threaten me with ghosts or shoot me in the leg, and you know who I ran into again out here? Matthew! He was right here! Right here IN NAKAMIYO WHERE HE DOESN'T BELONG! I thought he was going back to his monastery or sticking around in Koroshima to talk to dead people! Not just walking along on a path in the middle of nowhere in Nakamiyo, SENDING OUT TERRIFYING FIRE MONSTERS WITH A BAZILLION HEADS to attack people! Just when I thought whatever he could summon up couldn't get worse, he pulls that from the bowels of hell! I barely got out of there alive!

Seriously, the doctor I hung out with back home? I doubt there is any sort of healing you can dish out that would be freakier than him.

Yeah, there's a mountain with a lot of gold coins on it. I found the highest point I could.

I'd take some of the gold back out with me to try to buy food, but that seems like the worst idea ever. Stuff like this is always cursed, it'd bite me in the ass.

More likely it just wouldn't follow you. Liminal stuff doesn't usually stick around when the space changes.

[Sure enough, it's a matter of minutes before Naoki catches up to Jules - the more difficult part was getting to the top of the damn mountain.] I didn't realise you hadn't had it looked at already, or I would've offered sooner. But considering last time we talked you were in jail...

Well, I mean, Feli cleaned it up some, but it still hurts...

[Also he is a whiner who is prone to overreacting to things, that too.]

[Rather than touch Jules directly, Naoki holds out a hand. What looks like a card materialises over his palm - a Hanged Man tarot card, if Jules happens to get a good look in the couple of seconds before he crushes it.

The... sort of snakeskin-footy-pajamas-looking figure that appears might go some way toward explaining why Naoki said this was contingent on Jules not freaking out. Fortunately, Naoki doesn't keep him out for long - just long enough for a purple-blue glow to settle around Jules and dissipate, after which he should feel just fine again.]

Keeping anyone who saw you injured from realising you're fine again and asking awkward questions, if you have to go back out there, is up to you, but you should be all right now.

[He watches in fascination when Naoki materializes the card, but that quickly turns into a surprised yelp when he summons the...the...whatever that is had better not be a ghost, okay. To his credit, he doesn't run away.]

[But he springs right back to his feet, testing out the leg.]

Oh man, oh man, thank you so much. So much! And don't worry about a thing--I can just fake needing the crutch I have left. Lost the other when I came through the portal.

[He will try to grab Naoki's hand and pump it for a very vigorous handshake. And even if he doesn't get that handshake, he's still going to make his gratitude known with a subtle little twist of magic. Someone's getting a buff to his luck for that good deed.]

You're welcome. [Well, he didn't bolt. Naoki will take what he can get. He even accepts the handshake with good grace.

...Jules still isn't getting any more alcohol any time soon.]

It's a Persona. I know first aid, but that's faster and more effective.

I still have no idea what that is, but heck yes, that worked better than just first aid.
