Alright, alright, nowhere is safe! It's official, that's it, show's over, can we go home now? I am so done with all of this! So done!

Because Nakamiyo was supposed to be free of anyone who might want to threaten me with ghosts or shoot me in the leg, and you know who I ran into again out here? Matthew! He was right here! Right here IN NAKAMIYO WHERE HE DOESN'T BELONG! I thought he was going back to his monastery or sticking around in Koroshima to talk to dead people! Not just walking along on a path in the middle of nowhere in Nakamiyo, SENDING OUT TERRIFYING FIRE MONSTERS WITH A BAZILLION HEADS to attack people! Just when I thought whatever he could summon up couldn't get worse, he pulls that from the bowels of hell! I barely got out of there alive!

I think I do. I'm sorry, Cassandra, that I asked you to keep Thibault out of trouble when the task itself is impossible.

It shouldn't be, though... should it?

You would think it wouldn't be--that's what I initially assumed--but I suspect Thibault's incompetency is so strong that it outweighs the competency of anyone we might try assign to him.

No one acquitted themselves well in Nova Venezia. I can count the number of us who didn't make terrible mistakes or were forced into hard decisions there on the fingers of one hand. I'm not sure if there were any of us.

If you made a mistake in Nova Venezia... you're in good company. I made any number of mistakes there.

[This time, the silence stretches so long that it'd be easy to assume she's stopped speaking altogether. Then:]

When the city was burning. Nergui let me off the ship with a chaperone. We got separated. Two men attacked us separately. Onlookers saw me seriously wounded. Then they saw me tap into my yoma energy. I... think I killed him.

[Her mental voice is clipped, seemingly devoid of emotion, but there's an undercurrent of self-blame underneath. This has clearly been bothering her for a while.]

My chaperone almost died because I couldn't reattach my arm fast enough. I got her back to the ship, but... Nergui wanted to know what happened.

...And I don't lie very well.

... you're not the only person who told an Infiltrator what we were. I did it at the end of the first week because I was terribly frustrated with him. If anything, you did much better than me in Nova Venezia.

She said I was more subtle than the others. I... find that hard to believe.

I don't. Nova Venezia was far from our finest hour.

She said we caused a lot of damage the first time we were there.

If the previous Travelers were anything like our current set, I can see that quite easily.

I told her they probably wouldn't have been given time to help fix any.

She asked me why anyone would agree to this. Then she realized we didn't.

She asked me if Captain Phoenix was ours. And she wanted to know why we were so interested in her ship.
