Hello, this is Naoto Shirogane. I... seem to have been evicted from my overlay, one Mako Adams.

Do not attempt to tangle with him. While his actual powers are much less than people have been led to believe, he is crafty, and an excellent pistol shot. I will be taking him out myself after removing a few things from his apartment.

Thorne-san, Malik-san, Tim-san, Zed-san, my most sincere apologies.

They know we are here, but they are mostly unaware of who we are or what we do.

Once I have taken a few moments, I will be back and see what I can do.

[He wraps an arm around her right back, heart pounding.]

[It's a while before she calms down. When she does, she sits up a bit, taking a few breaths, and shakes her head.]

We have to take him out. I have to take him out.

[Kanji blinks.]

What sorta things has he done? Apart from ... the stuff you said... I mean. If you ... wanna say.

[There's a time for fairness and justice. And there's a time to get rid of a dangerous maniac. He suspects this is leaning towards the latter.]

Four murders, Kanji. My, er... his death toll is higher than Adachi's. And he's not stopping. He's unhinged, and he hides behind his position.

I pushed Thorne into a TV....

[She looks down at her hands for a moment.]

What do you do when you've become what you work against?

[Kanji closes his eyes for a moment. So's mine, he doesn't say, the thought as cold as it had been once the mission was done.
But now's not the time for that.]

You never did that. Not Naoto Shirogane. But ... what you do is you set what shit you can right.

[She swallows, almost crying again, and shakes her head.]

Not Shirogane. Not now. I... I don't deserve the name at the moment. Just Naoto.

[There's a long pause before she speaks again.]

I'm going to take his laptop. He has a lot of information on how he saw Infiltration from the outside. It is... quite interesting. I can also keep him from doing this to anyone else.

[...Owch. Owch. That's going to get her another hug.]

...If you need any help gettin' the thing, I'm there.

Thanks. I am uncertain how I am going to go about this at this time. He did see me, so he is aware of what I look like.

[She takes a shaky breath, voice tiny.]

Kanji... could you make me some sushi? I'd do it myself, but I never seem to pick up those abilities.

You're gonna make it work. But take care of yourself first, okay?

[He smiles.]

Sure. Lemme see... [Which ones does she like again? Ah, this should do it... there's a platter full of assorted rolls and nigiri pieces popping up soon enough. Honestly, he could use something to eat himself after this shock...] How's this?

One day, I'll figure out how to do that.

[She actually manages a smile at that, reaching out and taking one of the rolls. Mmm.]

[Notably, she's still leaning against him. She needs the comfort right now.]

['Take care of herself' or 'work liminal space', he doesn't ask. (He knows how bad his own habits are about the first at times.) Instead, he gives her a grin, still leaning back himself, with a faint blush.]

Heh, you're welcome. [Through a mouthful of sushi-] Was gettin' sick of the supermarket stuff.

Supermarket sushi does not deserve the name.

[She wrinkles her nose.]

Junes' stuff is tolerable, but it's still pretty terrible.

[She stares into space for a moment, and sighs.]

No kiddin'.

[Man, does Junes even exist in this world? He's not thought to check online to see... eh. Probably not worth it.]

Just lemme know if there's anythin' else I can do for ya, okay? Want a drink or anything?

Yeah.. er, cold matcha latte?

[It's one of her favorites, along with strawberry ramune.]

[There, one latte. He shakes his head as he passes the drink over.]

You ain't gotta apologise for that. That sorta crap's gonna get to anyone.

Still. Controlling my emotions is one of the most basic things I have taught myself. I should not need to explode like that.

[Kanji sighs softly. He knows how hard trying to keep control is, after all.]

You kept it together on the network 'n that's better than a lotta people could do.

It would be useless to break down over the network. No one would get any benefit from it, especially myself.

[She sighs.]

Now, however, I need a plan for going forward.

[He smiles at her, gives her a nod.]

Alright. Let's get ya up 'n running again and we can work out how to take that asshole down.

[She takes a breath and nods.]

Thank you, Kanji. I think the first order of business would be to get back to see how he is proceeding now that he knows I exist.

[She'll go... eventually. After she has a few more sushi and some more snuggle.]
