[Second day of Week Two/Three Mingle]

Hello, sorry, Lyall here. Do all of you recall that vision I had of the dividing wall between us during the last month or so of liminal space? How it was a very literal sign of what was to come?

It's happened again. I had another one. And it's being about as persistent as the first one, so I'm guessing it's important. I can share it directly if anyone would like me to, but in summary, I believe there's something out there beyond the reefs. I saw dark water, well below the level of the reefs, and a large, pale, diseased something. All I saw was a wall of flesh, that was then obscured by bubbles, and then it went even darker. Like it dove away.

I don't know if we need to find it to stop it, or find it to help it. But I do think we need to find it, if just to keep it from coming here.

... also, I am still making earplugs, for those who are finding the noise difficult to bear. I'm not sure if it will help entirely, but it can't hurt. If anyone wants to try and distribute them to people who trust them and might need them, please let me know, I'll get you a few pairs.

I want to heal the Singer, if we can. I hope we can, I truly do. But if we can't...

Perhaps it's because I can Sing that I'm so affected, but I can feel it, Colonel. It corrupts. Even letting my focus linger on the memory of it feels like it's digging claws into my mind and my control. I have witnessed others acting out of character, giving into rage and destructive urges. I can only imagine that it's testing the mermaid's control even more than mine, as they are native to this world in a way I can never be.

[Switch to private, no psychic protection]
[Lupa sighs, and there's a heaviness in his tone.] It reminds me a little, too much, of Varin Omega's Hunger Wave. If my control breaks, people will die. I can still use all my skills when I'm Mad, which means I cannot be trapped in Liminal. The ships would probably end up burned, and the ocean boiled. The mermaids will be able to flee, but what about the humans?

And almost all of those I trust to kill me are infiltrating right now. I can't force Gale to kill me a second time, no matter what.

I'm taking steps to protect myself from it, but no-one here can do what we can. That Song must be stopped, as soon as possible, peacefully or not.

Well, darling, if you need someone to kill you, I'd give it a go. But killing the poor beast seems a failure on many levels. Obviously you shouldn't be one of the people who investigates it, considering the risk, but it seems like a better use of your time might be thinking about how to restrain yourself, instead of how to kill something because of a vulnerability on your part. There's a fellow here with quite a powerful toxin that induces unconsciousness - perhaps we should simply drug you when the singing starts?

Thank you, but that wasn't what i was--

[Lupa pauses and then begins again.]

Let's approach this from a different direction. Can I assume from you response that your first plan is to attempt healing it? So what will you do when that plan falls?

As Randolph mentioned, best to get more information, first. But if that is what the creature needs, certainly! And if that didn't work, calming it or luring it away seem good second choices. If we can communicate in some way, I expect that will allow us many more options.
