[Most announcements of newly-discovered skills these days seem to come with some sort of show. This one doesn't - there's nothing all that intersting about someone failing entirely to do something, after all.]

It seems it's possible to suppress another Traveler's connection to Liminal Space such that they lose the ability to generate portals or manipulate Liminal matter for a time. Not easy, but possible.

Given the current population [you know, the amazing teleporting baby], I thought this development might interest a few of you.

What would happen if someone was cut off at the beginning or end of a Jaunt?

I doubt our gracious hosts are inclined to let us go that easily, if you're getting any ideas in that direction. But if you want to see what comes of it...

Do you have any facility with portals or manipulation of Liminal Space? I've never seen you make use of them...

That might make ascertaining the results a little more difficult - we'd be able to see if it delayed your arrival, but not if it somehow damaged your ability to interact with Liminal Space under your own power for a significant portion of the Jaunt.

...Now there's a thought. We should see what severing someone from both at once does, even if all that comes of it is that we know not to do it in the future if there isn't a dire need.

That's part of why I volunteered, to be honest. I know I can cut myself off pretty easily. And if it turns out to be dangerous... [He'd rather put himself at risk than anyone else.]

I have no intention of telling them anything. I'm not, however, entirely convinced they don't have some bizarre extra sense that alerts them to any threats.

You could say that, yes. Though to be fair, few Travelers are known for their reserved and accommodating personalities.

I suppose too much calm would be counterproductive. True, it would make us more likely to resign ourselves to our fates, but it would also make us less likely to act.
