Suns and moons can move in lots of ways. The birth of a star in another nearby galaxy pulling their alignment off. A big enough comet passing by. Sometimes it's not the sun or the moon at all, but the Earth that is shifting.

...That seems less likely than gods, to be honest. This world is a competition, designed specifically for a pair of Arcana to butt heads. They wouldn't make solving it impossible.
