synopsychic | Gathering those Plot Bunnies [very end of week two]

Alright, so - never thought I'd be sayin' this, but - thanks t'Zed, I think I got a workin' idea 'f what's been happenin' behind the scenes here.

'cos without him, Yakumo wouldn't a' gotten turned back into an Investigator. First thing he done did was find me an' tell me how the Titans're throwin' a coup a' the gods. He ain't got too much info yet - turns out storm spirits ain't got the greatest sense a' focus - but at least one a' them's a Traveller, that English wizard guy.

An' Galen, Tachibana's overlay, said that when he went t'go talk t'em earlier--

--so they're doin' somethin' directly t'mess with the gods an' make 'em complacent in their own demise.

So here's where it gets tricky. Yakumo thinks he can get me an in with the Titans - the storm spirits seem t'have all taken a likin' t'me, and they're already in on whatever the hell this plan is with the Titans, so unless there's any volunteers, I'll be goin' an sneakin' into that.

An' that means somebody else oughta try goin' back up the mountain t'try an' talk some sense into the gods. An' I reckon y'all might be able t'do that with some kinda skill that can clear their minds. I know there's a Song fer that, I can pass that on if'n someone needs it, but there's gotta be other ways that work better. If teleportin' or climbin's too far, I can make some kites an' Yakumo an' the other storm spirits can fly people up the mountain. It ain't too safe but it's a right sight faster than teleportin' or climbin' on foot.

...so. Thoughts?

If it's important and might have some effect on this situation I'd like to know sooner rather than later, somehow every time I go I'll find out later, things blow up and I never find out.

All it is, is last Jaunt we went an' fought the big boss there with a team that was about a dozen Investigators an' Dakki's overlay. It was personal fer her, but the rest 'f us just saw it as a problem what needed solvin' fer the collective good.

[Broly has no idea how to reproduce what Kinji's just done, the concept of a private thought between two people is a foreign one at this juncture. Just having people in his head is foreign enough! But there is the sense something's different, and thus to Pay Attention.]

... I don't see a problem with that, big threats need to be handled. It's not what I meant though. Aren't we going to leave eventually?

And I know Katie didn't mind that so many skilled people came to help.

Still... there are opponents, and there are opponents. Beings don't get referred to as 'gods' for nothing. Some of us are very formidable, but would that even be enough? And would it blow our cover?

Are these gods the ones who need a beating, or the ones making them have problems? Or both?

...at this point, I'm not sure. I think we're leaning towards the gods...?

Okay. I'm going to leave figuring that part out for certain, to people wiser than me. Can you or someone else tell me when we pick a target? I can't tell which ones are supposed to be evil.

I will! I thought this was supposed to be easy. Whichever one's causing all the normal people a lot of hurt is the one you go after..

These things are usually a lot more complicated than finding the right person and eliminating them. Even when there's a clear villain to take down, there's still the aftermath of that to worry about. Who knows if someone worse will just step up?

Are the Titans worse?

I... I don't know. They might be? I think other people are trying to figure that out.

I know barely anything about this world and how it works. I'm from somewhere very, very different!

Where I'm from is very different too. Hopefully someone figures it out soon, or at least figures out how to get this planet spinning around its sun instead of the other way around.

Wait, wait, this planet isn't spinning around the sun?

No. Watch what the sun and moon do, we're clearly not in orbit. I think if it was, we wouldn't be needing these gods. Maybe it's this way to keep all the natives relying on them.

Just using the way things should be it's impossible. But maybe that's why gods are bad.

.... Maybe we really do need to beat up the gods first. They're messing with everything.

But how could they even do that? And if that's how things work around here, completely eliminating whatever force keeps things in motion would be... bad, wouldn't it?

Gods can do all kinds of things. It's probably how if you build a dam in a river the river becomes a lake but remembers how to be a river if you then destroy the dam. It'll go back to the way it's supposed to be once the thing keeping it wrong is out of the way.

But... if you destroy the dam, in the process of the lake becoming a river again there could be a huge amount of destruction!

Well, sure, but the river's supposed to be a river. It's the fault of the ones who made the dam that problems result when putting it back the way it should be. We're smart sorts of beings, we can find ways to minimize the problems, but look what NOT revolving around the sun's doing. It's bad!

I'm just saying... let's not go blowing up any dams before we've got a plan in place to keep all the innocent bystanders from getting swept away in a flood!

...figurative dam and figurative flood, of course.
