Now that I can have everyone's attention, a little good news.

Since Jules and I both needed the occasional break from the Bronze Age, I'm proud to announce Liminal Intranet is now up and running. Even I'm not good enough to hook it up to proper Internet, as that would involve punching dimensional holes that are probably beyond our reach, but it should at least be a boon to Project Infopool.

Servers are in my rooms, so they won't be going anywhere even if I do. You'll have to provide your own computers, though.

Occasional attempts to collect information on where we've been, since sometimes it turns out to be where we're going and having that edge can prevent total clusterfucks.

Wouldn't have helped much just now, from what I know, but. One of the big problems up until people got rooms staying put was having the stuff accessible no matter who's infiltrating, and then you have people who'd rather use or Interface a computer than read a book. Besides, redundant copies are never actually redundant.

In other words, you are providing a database we can refer to should it turn out we make a return to a familiar Jaunt location. That is rather useful. Does it function purely like normal internet, or could it theoretically record some of our transmissions as well?

What, like hooking it up to the network? That's a few steps beyond even my programming-fu.

Not to say people can't make the attempt, but the network looks after itself pretty well.

Fair enough. Simply having a central database for us to share our own notes is sufficient. Although I suppose inevitably people will find... other uses for it.

But isn't the internet within a computer? I thought you modern people had just corrupted the Latin word to mean something else.

Okay not exactly internet but you are still so hot right now.

Technically the Internet is a network connecting many computers, that can be accessed from pretty much wherever. This one's an intranet because, while it does that part, it only works inside Liminal Space. Interdimensional wifi is a bit beyond my capabilities.

Gonna have to provide our own stupid cat pictures, I'm afraid, but it's better than nothing.

It's useful.

And I can definitely see how that was a screamy Jaunt. It got pretty intense for most people.

But then why not call the internet "extranet"? Since it is accessible outside of any particular computer.

Wifi or wired?

Wifi, of course. [Among other things, she's still working on the 'actual electrical wiring' thing, if Liminal Space can even do that.]

Figured it was better to leave him to his ridiculousness and get the actual work done later. Once he started yelling about buying a house that promptly got blown over...

So in theory, if we get an email server running, we can text.
