A Couple of Questions [Post Greek Jaunt/Carousel Liminal, Day 3]

[Someone was a nerd and has been thinking about this an awful lot before asking his questions. Which might be noticeable.]

My greetings, fellow Travelers. I have two questions to ask of you.

Firstly—what transpired during the last Jaunt? My Overlay was not... privy to most of the details.

Secondly—and perhaps more personally—are there others Marked by Astræa—by Justice? I am curious.

Not particularly. I've been called hard-headed, but I don't really want to test that.

They do on occasion.

Vengeance is a separate thing; don't conflate the two. Inflicting the same or similar actions upon another doesn't necessarily balance the scales.

Not always, no. Beatrice spoke true when she said my idiom is frequently the justice that stands in opposition to mercy.

But I need not be always. Make no mistake, I do have limits. The scales must be balanced, not tilted in the other direction.

Of course, I am to understand that the Arcana that would truly suit me is dead, and this contest is played by Her rules. I am the witch of the million-to-one chance and the flight of a black swan. Fortune rather than Justice is my natural idiom.

All reasons we two work best as a pair. Our true dear departed ruling arcana favors the bold.

...Of course, I find now that I have time for reflection that I had other objections to your little game. I would speak more of it after I spend more thought on it.

[Well, that's discouraging.]

So. If she gets to remake the universe, after bringing back her dead friends and, like, beating up the eldritch things she hates, does that mean the universe is going to be more just or more unjust, if she's both?

Her hope is the universe can be reformed in deference to her better half if she is the victor. It would be up to us to make it so.

Oh? You did have reasons to try and break it beyond your own game with Lambdadelta? I'd love to hear about them, actually. I probably won't agree, but seeing that chessboard from your angle would surely be enlightening.

I hope I am! That's what I'm working towards, at least. I hope everyone that wants to return home can return home.

I will truly miss the friends I have made here when it is all over, but we each have our own homes.

I shall need to put my thoughts in order. I've been thinking much of Witches Games, this one in particular. There are some things about it I've heard that disturb me.

I believe if we win in the way of better Justice, then the universe will better exemplify those qualities.

... although I still prefer everything to stay as it is now.

I don't know. It's not really very fair, now. Bad things happen to good people all the time, and good things happen to bad people. I wouldn't mind the world being a little less random like that.

Indeed, they do. But it is still dealing with the realm of gods when we are mere mortals. There is only so much that we can hope to comprehend.

That's why we ask them to explain it to us better. So we can understand.

Besides, I'm part eldritch. That's kind of like being part god. That doesn't make me better than you, and it doesn't make them better than us.

They are trying. We are as incomprehensible to them as they are to us. And she will respond to questions if you truly need answers.

It is not better, simply different. Concepts that exist to them do not exist to us and the reverse. That, and their ability to experience moments independent of themselves. Too many would shatter a mortal mind, I fear.

Then they should spend more time with us and try to learn, maybe. I mean, that's how you learn about somebody, right? You spend time with them and talk with them and stuff.

And I think you and them both underestimate mortal minds. We're stronger than you think.

I agree; they should spend more time among us.

I am certain I could not experience so many things as they do and hold onto my mind. Many moments simultaneously. It is beyond me.
