Pre-Moebius Sharing [A couple days into the racetrack liminal]

So a lot of you know I've been tryin' to rebuild memories from before Moebius. For you new people, Moebius was a Jaunt before most of you got here, were we died a lot and lost our memories every morning. A lot of that stuck.

[Look, he's being helpful, filling things in for people who don't know the story. Isn't that nice of him?]

Managed to put together somethin' kinda big out of them.

[Enjoy a brief lifestream of Riddick's strange vision: everything is tinted slightly purple, sources of light are doubly bright, and everything seems much more focused on heat and motion. It's an image of his hands, held apart in front of him, and after a second, an arc of electricity jumps between them, from one hand to the other. He holds it only briefly, then lets it dissipate.]

We can make energy out of liminal stuff. Claudia don't need to shoot me with her electricity gun to power lightcycles no more, we can just make that shit.

Came with somethin' else interesting while I was tryin' to put that trick back together. I was on at least four Jaunts before Moebius happened, might be more-- but there were people back then from the last round of this. The one Fortune won. We called 'em the Unlucky Dead. I don't got much about 'em yet, just a couple names and faces, but I'm workin' on it.

Figured that might be important to know.

[The last bit is said dryly. He knows that's an understatement.]

I'm still a bit hazy on things before Moebius, but if you don't mind helping, perhaps I could piece things together and remember some of the tricks I picked up before I went missing?

... And we might be able to find some more on the Unlucky Dead. The name vaguely rings a bell.

Okay I know that Moebius stuff is important but...

We can make energy? I mean I guess if we can make matter it makes sense but still that would be so useful. No more trying to cobble together weird clockwork generators...

You've been putting those pieces back together? How?

...Holy shit this is super relevant to my interests how does that work. [Given that Claudia's one of Liminal Space's main 'tinkers with electricity' people, her enthusiasm prooooobably isn't much of a surprise.]

Not uninterested in the other part, but I'll be of about negative help there, since I wasn't around for it.

Is it... uh. How d'you get it working?

It doesn't. That's why I started fightin' back, to get back what I could. It takes a lot of work, and a lot of that work's in the brain. But I can try and teach you what I know about it.

Helps if you have somethin' to start with. I started with Moebius itself, since I still had a few shreds from that, and Nova Venizia, since we'd been there before.

[The door to the forge is open, though the fire is low and Riddick apparently isn't working on anything at the anvil right now. He's past it, in the bedroom.

Claudia can wander right in and find him.]

Oh! Of course. If we can make matter out of nebulous liminal aether, naturally we can do the same with energy.

That's very, very interesting about the previous players. We haven't seen any trace of them since Mobius, have we?

...There was a round of the Arcana's game where we were dying and dying and dying again in an endless curve of time. Unaware of the past iterations.

Please describe the environs of Mobeus. (She's not sure what would be worse: it being in Hinamizawa on the banks of the Onigafuchi Swamp... or another game like it.)

I can deal with brain work, just point me in the right direction. I wasn't here for Nova Venezia, though. I think I got brought back after that revisit.

A jungle island at night, with concrete bunkers and hidden cameras.

You put it that way and it sounds like Belljar, too. They had all that. Just not the dying over and over part. Makes you wonder what it is about social experiments and jungle islands.

Wasn't always at night, either. Spent a full 24-hours there, then woke up again and started it all over.

Nope. I only have vague memories of them, myself. Fleeting glimpses in other memories. They weren't there for Moebius or for the first time we hit the floating city.

Look for the half-open sliding metal door behind the bleachers. Kinda like the doors from Bando, only heavier. I got my forge in there.

[He leans forward so she can see him through the pit for the forge fire, lifting one hand to beckon her in.

She'll find all his usual cushions and furs on the floor are gone, now, as is the low table. It looks very empty, but for the shelf of his bed and a bookshelf in the far corner, also stone.]

[And indeed, she seeks out that door just as quickly as she can. And since the door is open, she peeks her head in]

They are remote, easily controlled and mapped and, to the Western writer, exotic. A fine excuse for all manner of venoms and parasites, all manner of excuses for odd behavior.

...I wonder, then, what you would make of my first game. Death against the Hanged Man? Against the Devil? Against the Tower?
