synopsychic | Pre-Moebius Sharing [A couple days into the racetrack liminal]

So a lot of you know I've been tryin' to rebuild memories from before Moebius. For you new people, Moebius was a Jaunt before most of you got here, were we died a lot and lost our memories every morning. A lot of that stuck.

[Look, he's being helpful, filling things in for people who don't know the story. Isn't that nice of him?]

Managed to put together somethin' kinda big out of them.

[Enjoy a brief lifestream of Riddick's strange vision: everything is tinted slightly purple, sources of light are doubly bright, and everything seems much more focused on heat and motion. It's an image of his hands, held apart in front of him, and after a second, an arc of electricity jumps between them, from one hand to the other. He holds it only briefly, then lets it dissipate.]

We can make energy out of liminal stuff. Claudia don't need to shoot me with her electricity gun to power lightcycles no more, we can just make that shit.

Came with somethin' else interesting while I was tryin' to put that trick back together. I was on at least four Jaunts before Moebius happened, might be more-- but there were people back then from the last round of this. The one Fortune won. We called 'em the Unlucky Dead. I don't got much about 'em yet, just a couple names and faces, but I'm workin' on it.

Figured that might be important to know.

[The last bit is said dryly. He knows that's an understatement.]

The parts I remember are all at night. And it's possible it wasn't an island - I remember the coastline, and thinking we were trapped, but we didn't walk all the way around it.

I've never been afraid of a bit of work.

Maybe their forms only carried over to the very earliest parts of this round...I get the distinct impression the lingering amnesia after Mobius was not an intentional part of the game. It could be that they were brought into this round as an information source, and their knowledge was meant to be passed down continuously from player to player.

Then you missed some freebie flashbacks. I can walk you through some of my memories, see if it sparks anything. Come by the forge. The door's under the bleachers. We can talk about it.

[The forge doesn't look the same as it had in Bando... though there are some aspects she'll recognize as being build on it. It's all stone, like it's hewn out of rock, with metal rather than wood for the door and various fittings. But the forge and the room behind it are about the same size and shape, tools are in similar places, even some of the decorative weaponry on the walls is similar.

Riddick is beyond the forge proper, in the room behind the fire pit. Said room has been cleared of all flammable objects.]

Hey. C'mon in. Tell me what all you can do with liminal stuff, and I'll tell you if you can pick this up yet.

Tell me what all you can do with the network so far. I'll see what we can build off of to get you goin'. If you wanna come by the forge and talk about it, in person, door's under the bleachers.

Explody. Yeah. Matthew just about set himself on fire, and I zapped a rug.

[And while he can control the room pretty closely, he'd still rather be safe than sorry. His books are safe behind a glass shield, even, since those are harder to replace than a few fur rugs.]

So it's a pretty basic concept, it's just tricky to actually do since we're so used to makin' shit. You gotta stop before it actually turns into somethin'.

[She notes the lack of flammable objects. That seems like the sort of thing you'd do if you're expecting a project to explode. By which she means it's what she does when she expects a project to explode.]

Not nearly as much as with the network. But I can do the basics up as far as making real food and small electronics.

[The fact that no one could do larger electronics might have something to do with them never having this ability worked out before]

Wouldn't have told everybody if I didn't think I'd get half a dozen people comin' by demanding to know how.

I got the impression that they just didn't have anywhere to go to. But I'll keep digging, see if there's anything more to it.

Moebius wasn't anybody against anything, like the rest of these Jaunts. It was a punishment. We fucked up and did somethin' they didn't like, tried to stop playing the game. So Death came up with the idea that it had to be cyclical, so we couldn't just decide to stop-- and Devil decided there had to be dying and pain.

Didn't even have time to walk around it, in the span of a day, not when we didn't remember where we'd been the day before. But yeah, it wasn't just night.

Don't think so. Why, you gonna tell me now?

[There's a grin in his voice. It's actually possible that she has (mun finds it vaguely familiar, but is too lazy to go digging for the thread) and he just wants to hear her tell it again.]

Then you can probably work this out. It's like makin' something real, only you stop before it's actually a thing. This is the step between having nothing and having something.

I was musing about my own circumstances. Which makes it vital that they are never repeated a third time, as they were in Moebius. Despite what some may think, my Ruling Arcana shares a sense of proportion with me, and that is indisputably the point where Justice becomes unacceptable Cruelty.

...Mark my words. If I had the power to swear in red that I would depose the Devil, then I would. Death...

Hm. If anyone's going to be here for not a reason related to the game, it's going to be the remains of Fortuna's win. Still, I'm going to work with the assumption that anyone present in Liminal Space is here for a reason, even if it's just somebody's whim.

Low-charge and fun places to apply them. [Does she really need to elaborate?] Now the question is, does that energy in your hands actually tingle to touch?

[And in a few, she's there, knocking on the door before stepping in, looking down at the man with a small smile.] How did this past Jaunt treat you, Riddick?

That sounds like one of those things Master Yoda would say...

[She has all that second hand, but he's still who she thinks of when she hears that sort of philosophical talk]

[Yeah, pretty sure that came up before. He chuckles.]

Might need a little practice before I go using it for that kinda thing. Last thing I directed it at kinda got fried. Rather not do that to a person just now.

Pretty sure you're not alone in wantin' to get rid of Devil. He's the only one of 'em who doesn't really have an up-side.

For what it's worth, think Death's told various people he regrets what happened. They ain't human, so they didn't realize what dying over and over would do to us.

[Not that he's defending them. But he is being fair. Sort of.]

I don't blame you. That could kill the mood and the other person quite quickly.

Somebody's whim ain't really a reason that matters, in the long run. At least not if it's the whim of somebody who's dead.

[If it'd been someone still alive, then it would be something one could learn from or manipulate. But somebody dead? Pretty useless.]
