Pre-Moebius Sharing [A couple days into the racetrack liminal]

So a lot of you know I've been tryin' to rebuild memories from before Moebius. For you new people, Moebius was a Jaunt before most of you got here, were we died a lot and lost our memories every morning. A lot of that stuck.

[Look, he's being helpful, filling things in for people who don't know the story. Isn't that nice of him?]

Managed to put together somethin' kinda big out of them.

[Enjoy a brief lifestream of Riddick's strange vision: everything is tinted slightly purple, sources of light are doubly bright, and everything seems much more focused on heat and motion. It's an image of his hands, held apart in front of him, and after a second, an arc of electricity jumps between them, from one hand to the other. He holds it only briefly, then lets it dissipate.]

We can make energy out of liminal stuff. Claudia don't need to shoot me with her electricity gun to power lightcycles no more, we can just make that shit.

Came with somethin' else interesting while I was tryin' to put that trick back together. I was on at least four Jaunts before Moebius happened, might be more-- but there were people back then from the last round of this. The one Fortune won. We called 'em the Unlucky Dead. I don't got much about 'em yet, just a couple names and faces, but I'm workin' on it.

Figured that might be important to know.

So it's... grabbing the energy to use but shunting it into electrical energy instead of making it be a thing in particular. Useful, especially with as many of us have battery-powered crap of one kind or another, but I definitely wanna get the fine art down before I fry my laptop by accident or something.

...I know that I am repeating myself but it bears repetition: if there is the smallest chance that Devil can be made to pay for this, I will find it, and I will use it.

It helps. Not exactly necessary, but it makes it a lot easier to do, which might be the only thing that makes it doable with the shitty scraps we have to work with.

[Easier to start with the psychic network stuff. Riddick really isn't sure even how to teach the memory strengthening things. He basically came with that shit already.]

First you gotta do the opposite of livestreaming-- you gotta get inside somebody else's head to see and hear what they're seeing and hearing. Sensory eavesdropping, we call it. Mostly you do it with somebody else's permission.

[He smirks a bit, at that, since he's sure there's circumstances when you could do it without.]

[This'll be more of a project than Asa, all right. But he's willing. She's a friend. Sort of.]

C'mon down to the forge and we'll chat. I'll walk you though what all you gotta learn, and see about startin' to get you there.

Ain't even shunting, really. That's like taking energy and turning it into energy-- liminal stuff starts out as energy before it's got any form to it. All you gotta do is keep from makin' the form part.

[He says, as if it's that easy.]

Until we find out how they were picked last round, who the winner before Fortuna was, won't get us very far to speculate. But I'm workin' on that.

[He pauses, then adds:]

I wasn't very friendly back then. Might be I never found out. But I'm still gonna try.

Never been afraid of a little high voltage. Amperage, yes, because that shit can kill you if you screw it up.

Do you think it'd be easier to get the hang of if I have something to direct the energy into right off the bat?

It... wasn't comfortable, but Astraia had been like that since she was born so... it was tolerable, I suppose. It makes you appreciate how much you can actually see when your sight's been taken from you so suddenly.

It'll be less explosive. Maybe. Give it a shot.

[He didn't learn it that way, obviously, but it might make it easier. He honestly doesn't know.]

Yeah, it kinda does.

[Says the man who goes blind when there's too much light around. He gets it, at least kind of.]

So I ain't seen you yet. Did you wind up keeping the wings?

I haven't checked, yet. I've been trying to remember the skills I picked up before being put away in my Dungeon.

I did learn to livestream my senses, though. [Deliberately lets Riddick see through her eyes for a moment, in full colour. In this case she's staring down at Mi'durgenn, who pants and wags his tail, the familiar then resting his chin on his mistress' thigh.] Which I'm pretty sure I couldn't do before.

That's pretty good. If you could do it before, you never used it. Mostly what I remember you knowin' was magic shit, and I think you could interface.

... Why do I get the feeling you could learn to make having permission optional? [She might be smirking a bit herself, but moving on-] All right. I can livestream, so now I need to pick up the opposite. Then?

I need someone to practice interfacing with... are you offering?

Bang. [She says, completely deadpan, as she fishes a lightcycle out of her hammerspace. It's not her personal one, or for anyone in particular, so if she fries it in the process, no harm done.

So. Drawing the energy but doing something with it before it takes form, huh? Sounds easy enough--]

[--But of course it isn't, and while she does call up a fat spark, it doesn't go anywhere in particular, instead zapping a bare patch of floor.]

O...kay, that could have gone better. But I think I got the gist of it, at least.

Sure, why not? Come on over whenever you want.

You could. Wouldn't suggest tryin' it, but just about everything we can do on the network can be done without permission if you're strong enough, and the other person ain't protected enough. Anyway, after eavesdropping, then you gotta turn that around again to actually project somethin' into somebody else's mind. An image of yourself is what most people do, so when you're talkin' on the network, it's like you're talkin' in person.

[He pauses, then adds,]

Most people don't actually bother to do it, at all. If they do any images on the network, it's livesreaming or memories. But you can do it, and its an important step to learnin' other things.
