Are they still midnight musings when the only time is on your watch?

Has anyone noticed a pattern of people in jaunt worlds? For example, versions of the same person showing up in worlds you have an overlay in.

And even in some that you don't.

Know of more like. He died before I was born. But he keeps showing up on councils.

Then, no. I've heard about it; but I haven't seen anyone familiar.

There's about a dozen of them, give or take a few, that show up really consistently. People have been calling them Familiar Faces? Mina and Perry, Jordi, Tobi, Dara, Berry or Barry... actually, some of them were gods in Achaia. And, uh, that reminds me. I have something I'm going to need to announce to everybody.

As far as my life goes, sometimes my parents or brother are there in some capacity for my overlay, but the only other person who shows up consistently is Derek, my best vampire friend. He's never been actually present for the Jaunt, but he's been an important figure in three of my overlays' lives.

Now that you mention it, I think someone who was on the Pogemon council was one of the gods, in the last world. [[The voice was familiar at the very least]]

There's two who have been in a few other worlds, for me. And in most of them... the same pattern of one having killed the other has been there.

Prometheus and Hebe were both ones I recognized. Atlas too.

And yeah, there's some consistency with the Dereks.

...Tallish, skinny, same hair and eyes as me, electrician or whatever comes closest on a Jaunt?

... he's kind of tallish, but otherwise no. Plus, he was never a Traveler. And he was from New York.

Sayoko's been in three.


...and Isaka in two of those three.

My sister's been a presence a few times. Usually dead.

Sayoko's been dead two of the three worlds she was in. Killed in a similar way to how she was back home.

My first overlay had tried to bargain with Izanami for her safe return. It didn't work, but he was at least smart enough to follow directions. [So yeah, that didn't hit close to home or anything.]

The time she was alive was almost worse, but... I think it helped, in the long run.

In the world we just left... the wind spirits my overlay had befriended were able to rescue her from the underworld, when the gods were compromised.

Reflections of my mentor show up in my overlays' memories more than literally anyone else I know, although I have run into most of them at one point or another. I guess an old woman teaching magic or ninja tricks or grammar is the kind of person who shows up almost anywhere.

Sounds like the sort of person who's a staple of a lot of people's lives, yeah.

Thankfully... my predecessor hasn't been around, in many places. The one world my overlay still knew him, it was a completely different relationship.

One of the more contentious successor/predecessor relationships, then? I had that coming and going in the world I came from.
