Hey. So. I used my secret-discovering skill I got from Shekinah to learn something Chara doesn't know about the Protectorate-That-Was and it turns out? Great-Grandpa Malion and the rest of the house of Broken Stone had access to the Mystic Spires. They were, like, privately raiding them for secret weapons and luxury technology.

Anyway, it's kinda too late for Chara to get on the Expedition seeing that they left yesterday, but if any of you on the expedition get inside a Spire and the place is safe enough, could we work out some shit with Portals to get me and Chara there? I dunno if there's any biometric shit, but it can't hurt to have us. And she'd definitely like to see the place--she just didn't go on the expedition because of the whole keeping herself alive to continue the dynasty thing.

And. Like. There's a very slim chance that Chara and I might be able to get more information on that shit? Hopefully anyway.

Also, I've got an idea for distributing shit to every spire pretty damn fast, but I'm gonna need Matthew's help? I'll private message him about it in a sec, but if he's up for it, let me know if there's shit we need brought over besides, like, Gil's special batteries and basic literacy and shit.

So.

I've volunteered to DJ for the Fallenheart Vale Benefit Concert.

I'm not going to explain why or justify myself. We all have good reasons to hate the Arcana. Suffice to say my reasons for helping them now are more compelling to me than my reasons to see the OG Miner, OG Crypto, and Dear God Let This End Personified suffer further consequences. Doubtless some of you are asking if I've gone insane, to which I say: that's my secret, Captain, I was always insane. Remember, Harrogate was old news to me from training on my world.

So.

Still listening?

Then I'd like requests for my playlist* for the ball. It's a work of phonomancy, my contribution to the ritual battery we're charging. I hope it helps. Put in requests for music you want to hear, or if you're of a more mystical bent, music you think will assist the ritual.

Thanks for listening.

*(When this post goes up, only the first 22 tracks - the Invocations to the Major Arcana - are up. After talking to Thorne and/or Allura, there are suddenly a lot more songs with hopeful outlooks. Weird.)

So, uh, since I can upload shit directly onto the network now--yeah, I know, it took me long enough--I just put up... well, most of the academic papers I've been writing these last two years about liminal space, ever since this crusty old dude gave me shit for calling what I've been doing science and not, like, actually publishing anything or getting it peer reviewed or like being ready to do an oral thesis defense when he put me on the fucking spot.

[She might be carrying a tiny grudge still, even with said dude long out of ambit.]

Anyway. Um. If people want to look at the psychic versions via their brains, you can get them here? Or you can go to the library and read the paper copies I've been sticking in there each time I finish one. Thanks to everyone's who's beta-read and looked things over and, like, allowed me to interview you over the last two years or so. I owe you guys.

[good afternoon travelers, there is a disgruntled ninja with an absolute killer migraine on your network. if you didn't know it was possible for a psychic voice to grouse, you do now.]

I'm not up to speed on his relevance yet, [he's never said hello before, he's not going to start now] but I'd urge anyone on the tail of Kinji's infiltration to use caution. He's capable of a psychic blast strong enough to incapacitate multiple people. We would have more information, but Katsuragi drove him away.
thornsofmalkav: (surprised)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
Holy shit, you guys. For whatever reason, David Texxant is back.

[She'll just livestream her encounter with Dusty Houston for everybody.]

I'd say somebody needs to warn Yakumo, but he's my boss this Jaunt.
talkative: (telling you a story)
[personal profile] talkative
[Let's just not think about the jaunt and deal with other things.] )

I have two questions, perhaps someone can help me.

First, is there a complete and thorough list of all the skills that could be learned here? And what other skills are needed for them, and so on? I've found a few things in the library, but they were incomplete and either overly detailed or lacking in description.

Secondly, does anyone know if there's a bar somewhere around here? Particularly one that serves all kinds of sweet cocktails and other such beginner's drinks? And maybe even has hookahs?

[And then, a few hours later, there is an addition - Jackie is trying really hard to not laugh while he's speaking, but it's not really working, and he sounds like he's just short of rolling around the floor.

The sensory livestream coming with the addition is of Malin's Bar. In particular, it focuses on the giant inverted ankh on the window for a long moment before sliding back to survey the bar, and then trails over the much more tasteful and understated ways in which the same symbol has been worked into small patterns all over the room.]

This is hilarious, who made this?
thornsofmalkav: (chinhands)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
Hey, does anyone have a spare identity disc from the Grid/ZODIAC that they wouldn't mind lending me so I can back it up on the science lab's supercomputer and then temporarily overwrite it with someone's data? It's to save a life. I promise I'll put the original data back after I'm done.
thornsofmalkav: (chinhands)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
Okay. So. We're gonna have a special guest or two on the network in just a sec, but before that I want to play a conversation I had a little bit ago. For those of you who saw it when I showed people on Naoki's bridge, I'm sorry you have to see it again, but I know he couldn't bring everyone on back then, so it's better I play it one more time. I filtered out the smell impressions for this stream. You're welcome.

[And... she's just going to show the conversation with not-Jackie Humansona where he Reveals Some Shit.]

So yeah. Shit is bananas.

[It is at this point where she triggers the Psychic Delegate for Acantha.]

Anyway! I've just put one of the Beastfolk on the line for everyone--and I've coordinated with Naoki too, so that he'll be putting another one on at the same time. I think I've got enough brain juice to give him roughly a half-hour with us, so use your time wisely? Naoki might be able to give his a little longer.

So yeah. Everyone chime in while they're still on and we'll see where we should go from here.
leftbehindagain: (you thought about exploring the TV world)
[personal profile] leftbehindagain
I think we can all agree everything this jaunt chooses to be sucks, yes?

This is Naoki. I'd have checked in sooner, but I'm half-infiltrating, we didn't have reason to think there was a network divide until just now, and it's... already been a very busy week.

So. We know the midges are cameras, we know there are at least a few actors among us - it's far from everyone, but I think we've pinpointed at least two - we know everyone was delivered here from space after unknown time spent in a lab, and we know this is Earth. If anyone remembers whether Karachi is India or Pakistan, that's apparently roughly where we are, going off stuff someone found underwater. We have about twenty minutes to compare notes and start working on a plan.

(OOC: Up to fourteen Beastfolk-side investigators can join in on this discussion!)
thornsofmalkav: (concerned)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
Okay. Okay, fuck. I've had some weird conversations and I'm pretty sure they're ones I need to fill you guys in on, because... well, I'm spooked.

So the first thing happened with Daneel or rather not-Daneel, because he's Infiltrating and he doesn't have a name yet. And he's a Seer, right? He's got the knowledge of making water wheels in his noggin. But he's got other stuff in his head too. Like a drawing of God's Isle and these symbols he doesn't understand--he drew them for me and they looked a whole fucking lot like letters, numbers, and typographical symbols--and, like, being in sticky water and someone telling him to remember.

That would be freaky enough, but then the shit with not-Jackie happened.

So you know the strange creature, the actual mythical human? He says he remembers me--that is, me-as-Thorn-the-weaver--and he called me 'Char' and said I already had a kid? He's a little confused--sunstroke will do that to you--but I don't think he's lying. I think he's involved with this. Somehow.

So, like, I dunno but I think maybe it would be a really good idea to, like, pool information about people who might be... fuck, I don't know? Significant to something being rotten in the state of Home? Because it's not like we can round up every single person and march them to the latrines to be interrogated--it'll take too long and there's always a chance that the midgecams will change their mind about not wanting to see us shit--but if we can at least narrow it down to a couple people, maybe we can focus our detective work. Or something.
thornsofmalkav: (talking)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
Okay. So. Here's the thing. Peregrine Me was talking to the hot demon that Ca... uh, to the Prince of Chess and he made them an offer: he'd get them an acre of land in Hell in exchange for them to serve in the Army of Hell. Oh and it comes with a Dignity too. Either a fancy-ass trident, Nobel laureate-level knowledge in a scientific field, or, like, throwing fire around, though obviously the last one is the worst one. Honestly, I'm pretty sure Peregrine Me would have taken the offer in a heartbeat if I hadn't been there to be their conscience--as it is, I managed to get away with an 'I'll think about it and get back to you.'

I'm, like, ninety percent sure that the reason they're trying to recruit us is that we can't actually die anymore, given that we're dead already?

Also I bet I'm not the only one he's made this offer to. For all I know, someone's even made the deal with him.
seestheworld: (Mercury Aqua Blizzard)

[note: takes place the day after this]

Does anyone know what a Cŵn Annwn is? It's not important to the Jaunt, at least as far as I can tell, but...

[Please don't let it be important to the Jaunt - the last thing she wants to do is tank the entire thing because she accidentally long-distance stole an exotic hellhound.]
thornsofmalkav: (chinhands)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
So hey. Given that we just had a pretty good example of how much having or not having psychic or liminal skills matters when it comes to Jaunts, I was thinking that it might be a really good thing to throw another Liminal Salon this summer, especially since it's been well over half the year since the last one.

So for the newer Travelers, what a Liminal Salon is--besides being short for Psychic-And-Liminal Salon--is an open intellectual sort of party where people can come to and share the cool abilities they've developed for working with liminal space and the network. There's snacks and places around to sit and talk and it's actually really fun to bounce ideas off of people. And even if you haven't learned to do much stuff yet, I'd still encourage everyone to come, because it's a good way to find people who can teach you stuff.

Last time we did this, it was in one of my created rooms, but maybe this time we could do it in a more public space? To, like, show that it really is open to everyone? I mean, we've got restaurants and stuff. It could work.

And, like, I'd personally really like to do this? Because I've actually figured out how to do some of those theoretical hybrid skills that me and Matthew were talking about last year and I'd super love to teach them to people. I don't want to end up in a dungeon or something and then the skill's lost because no one else knows it.

Anyway, what do you think? If people are up for it, I figure we could hold it in roughly forty-eight or seventy-two hours--I figure that should give us time to prepare, but still be before we get another flood of newbies. Assuming that's still a thing that's gonna happen.
thornsofmalkav: (chinhands)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
Hey! This is Thorne. I'm in the, uh, second Traveler group. The one that's been doing this longer. Anyway, one of the things we learned how to do that the first group should also learn how to do in time is to... well, basically break into the private spaces of the playing card themed entities that serve as our Hosts, be they called Champions or Arcana or Trumps. And some of us have reason to believe that Fortune is involved with shit for this Jaunt.

A small group of us had privately made some plans to do the aforesaid breaking in, but we had to delay it to wait on some business here and in the time since our first plans we'd figured out that Matthew, who is our primary person for accomplishing that breaking in, can actually bring a LOT more people with him when he invades the spaces of our Hosts than he used to be able to. Which means we don't have to actually limit the breaking in to the four of us who originally planned to do it.

Basically, with Matthew being the primary taxi and me and Claudia helping, we can get somewhere around thirty people there and back with us. Because Matthew is officially the Armin of Liminal Space now.

ANYWAY. Anyway. Because of that, we figured we'd open up going on the Fortune Field Trip to everyone, both our group and the first group. Or, you know, the first thirty? I don't know how many people are gonna want to.

We'll probably leave in a day or two and hopefully should be back the same day. We'll meet in Liminal Space, in front of the theatre marquee that's unfortunately on the ground right now. If you don't have portals, let us know and one of us will open up a portal for you.
thornsofmalkav: (high priestess)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
So. Uh. It turns out that like Tachibana and his giving people healing abilities, I kept some stuff from Achaia, but we don't know what it is yet. Does anyone want to be a test subject for me to pass on abilities? Healing wasn't really in Selene's wheelhouse, but some other stuff is. You'd basically have to come to Tachibana's lab and I'd attempt to bless you and he'd wave around instruments or something to see if it gives him a readout.
thornsofmalkav: (concerned)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
Wait. Shit. No. This isn't how my vision went. I'm not supposed to be Charoite again!

[That little speech comes almost immediately upon arriving in Questing Country. After that, Thorne is almost completely silent for the next couple hours. When she finally contacts the network again, she sounds much less upset. Tired and a little giddy, but not upset.]

Okay. So. I think I might have figured out how Empress managed to pull the Skittles out of people two years ago.
thornsofmalkav: (chinhands)
[personal profile] thornsofmalkav
Okay, so. For a variety of reasons, including that me and Matthew have some rad new theories about the way that liminal space and the network actually work--as well the theoretical basis for a bitchin new skill category--I would like to invite everyone to a Salon. A Psychic-And-Liminal Salon.

But when I say Salon, I don't mind the kind you go to in order to get your hair done. I mean it in the old-fashioned sense, as a sort of intellectual party where everyone meets up to have snacks and swap theories and demonstrate cool shit they've found. It's something I've actually tried doing before in small groups? And both times went pretty well, so I think after the alpha and beta test Salons, I'm totally ready to make this an open thing.

Anyway, I'd host it in a created room and, like, make sure there's plenty of food and everyone could come over and swap ideas and new tricks--and any interesting information that people might have found out from these weird visions we've been getting these last couple liminal spaces.

I think what Yosuke said a few days ago, how since we've had past and sort-of-present visions in this liminal space that we're probably due for some future ones soon, is probably right. And because of that--and also because some of those past visions might have shown us pre-Moebius shit--I think it's definitely a good idea if people talk about things they've learned from them at the Salon.

Because of that, I don't want to hold it until at least after liminal space turns? Because then we could get some future visions in, like I said. But on the other hand, I'm not entirely sure if they'll dump us right into a Jaunt after we get to the Liminal Space Yet To Come, so I dunno if we can wait it out for the Salon? On the other hand, we do usually get a warning liminal before Jaunts where they hint at shit and give the noobs some time to flail around, so it might be better to bet on that happening and do the Salon then?

What do you guys think? Do it in the theoretical next liminal or bet we'll have a hint-filled one full of newbies after that and hold it then?
