A few hours into the Jaunt

I've never done this before, but there's a first time for everything.

It's about time to do a check-in to see who are investigating - or at least have an infiltrator persona. My name is Jean Kirstein and... I don't investigate very often.

Apparently, I arrived with an ID that says I'm 21. So I guess age up, or down, is normal in this Jaunt. I also got a surprise guitar and seem to know how to play it...? Anyone else had something like that happen to them?

I won't ask if anyone has an idea of what we're supposed to do, since it's so early on the Jaunt... but it's good to keep your eyes open for any information that seems important.

Hey, if what everyone's said is right, we can still get back into Liminal Space and some people can make food there, right? We're not going to starve.

Yeah, I can make a portal and some food for anyone who doesn't know how and needs to go to Liminal, at least. I'm sure many others can help with that too.

Wow, Jean, you are so nice and a real lifesaver! I still don't know how to make portals or my own food, so any help with not being hungry here will be great~!

I can teach you how to do portals at some point. It's one step towards learning to control liminal space anyway and a very useful skill for future jaunts.

I've already got a couple of other tricks, but getting back to Liminal Space is going to be... pretty necessary, for food and sleep.

Also, there's a pawnshop in downtown Santa Carl...ita. So we can probably score some extra money there. Especially if someone goes to liminal space to make, like, gold jewelry and stuff for the rest of us to pawn.

And anyway, this is, like, 1989. Everything is hella cheap. Like I'd say at maximum a third of their modern twenty-first century prices.

Santa Carlita would be a nice play to see too. Everyone's being so nice, let's do this teamwork thing! ...We can even make things like gold jewelry, really? [ Is she ever going to be NOT amazed by this place? ]

Everything being so cheap makes it easier but it doesn't help much when people could call me like the embodiment of gluttony or something.

Yeah! Actually, you'd probably be able to make that before you'd make food, at least if it's simple enough. My boyfriend made me a butterfly pendant as one of his first things he made out of liminal stuff. I wear it, like, every day.

I could maybe give you some recommendations for restaurants, since this place is kind of close to a place I lived. Like, they may not have the same names and some might not be open yet, but Pizza My Heart and Woodstock's Pizza are the best places to get, well, pizza. Gabriella's is a cute little cafe place, but kinda expensive. [Which sadly does not exist yet, oops.] Joe's does really great sandwiches. Um. Hm. Hoffman's is a good bakery, Marini's is an amazing candy shop, and if you want Bagels you should get them at the Bagelery, because they actually boil them the old-fashioned way. Plus, a little further away from downtown there should be The Crepe Place. Oh, and there's the Shadowbrook in one of the satellite towns, but fuck if I know what they're calling it here, since so many town names are changed. But if I get a map of the area, I'll indicate where.

Yeah. We definitely should go and make pawning goods at some point.

People can make gold in Liminal Space?

I guess if people can make rooms, that's not so weird, but...

Yeah! Actually, it's easier than making edible food is. It's because gold is a simple one-element thing and food is Complicated.

... I think Zed and Right's world has giant monsters too, for what it's worth. I dunno if they're made of gold, though. I mean, they're a lot more likely to be made of trains or darkness or really shiny things.
