A few hours into the Jaunt

I've never done this before, but there's a first time for everything.

It's about time to do a check-in to see who are investigating - or at least have an infiltrator persona. My name is Jean Kirstein and... I don't investigate very often.

Apparently, I arrived with an ID that says I'm 21. So I guess age up, or down, is normal in this Jaunt. I also got a surprise guitar and seem to know how to play it...? Anyone else had something like that happen to them?

I won't ask if anyone has an idea of what we're supposed to do, since it's so early on the Jaunt... but it's good to keep your eyes open for any information that seems important.

Sara Smith, I was a Spartan last jaunt, and this place looks a lot like - well, not like home home, but just south of where it would be!

I would, uh, appreciate any help anyone can give me fitting in because I'm guessing things are REALLY DIFFERENT here 30 years before the war even if the war is the only difference.

Also stuff is super cheap here.

Wait, what? Thirty years from now is five years from when I was from. What war? Is this something that sprung off of the vampire apocalypse or what?

My world doesn't have vampires, or the kind of changelings that have just shown up.

It was an alien invasion. A... weird one, going through our dreams first and taking out the adults. Locked them in their own dreams... we think.

Besides, my world has a Santa Cruz with a Big Dipper coaster. Yours is... Santa Carla, and this is her little sister.

Yeah. I think it's why my parents got turned to stone while I was a Spartan - it was the closest thing they had to "not really alive but not really dead."

It's something I need to go back and help fix.

So... Vampires back in Santa Carla. What's up with that?

Uh, well, the favorite childe of the Prince of Santa Carla was really careless about keeping his ghouls enthralled and one of them had a brother who'd fallen in with a pair of Hunters...

Basically, the Hunters used the inside knowledge to off all the vampires in town except my future sire. Who got lucky.

For all that my world is weird, it's... sci fi weird, not magic weird. No werewolves or vampires. I'd say no faeries but some people wonder with the way the aliens act.

...I'd imagine that the human form makes things a lot safer for you and, uh, us too. Congratulations...?

Be careful with fire. As long as it's contained we can keep our cool, but if we see it as a threat we kind of go nuts getting away and can hurt or kill people in our frenzy.

Probably only in my world. The one with Santa Cruz instead of Santa Carlita.

This is still close to what my world was like before the Bliss. Better than I could have hoped for. Better than I thought it was.

After last Jaunt, I'm down for a concert in the forest.

At least something positive, then. A trip "home" must feel like a nice, especially if things remain as calm.

First overlay and first Jaunt. I was more struck by how much she was like me than how much she wasn't, but I didn't realize how lucky I was. For all that my world is crappy hers was worse, and she had to be... rougher to make up for it.

Well, they say we get sent out to overlays that resonate with us the best. Which sometimes doesn't make sense at first, but then there are situations where the overlay hits home closer than you'd like.
