A few hours into the Jaunt

I've never done this before, but there's a first time for everything.

It's about time to do a check-in to see who are investigating - or at least have an infiltrator persona. My name is Jean Kirstein and... I don't investigate very often.

Apparently, I arrived with an ID that says I'm 21. So I guess age up, or down, is normal in this Jaunt. I also got a surprise guitar and seem to know how to play it...? Anyone else had something like that happen to them?

I won't ask if anyone has an idea of what we're supposed to do, since it's so early on the Jaunt... but it's good to keep your eyes open for any information that seems important.

No musical instrument for me...then again, I specialize in organ compositions, so that would be a tad impractical. The ID is a nice touch that I'm surprised we didn't get in Newport. At least it got my proper first name, but I'll probably have to just suck up Americans mispronouncing it for the whole Jaunt.

Organ? Like the ones they have in churches?

[From what he's seen at least. He's never visited their churches back home.]

Precisely. And even then, I'm less a player and more one who writes the music to be played.

I guess you could say I'm a mix of both, in a way. Or at least, one of my overlays is. I didn't keep his ability to compose though.

Ah, in which Jaunt was your Overlay a musician? January, perhaps? There was some quite excellent musical culture there.

Yeah, January. I wasn't a very known artist, but my brother was Kastor, who made the whole 24-hour concert happen.

I did play in cafes and bars though. So at least performing won't be a problem if I need to get to it.

Ahaha, of course Kastor had a brother. How could he not?

It's a story - or rather, recent history - from when we were in Achaia that survived to become myth in my time.

Kastor and Pollux, or Polydeuces, were twin brothers of different fathers - Kastor mortal as the son of the king of Sparta, and Pollux immortal as a son of Zeus. I didn't really get the reference as an elf, but it seems rather obvious when we were just in ancient Greece.

Oh. That's one I hadn't heard about. Then again, Markos wasn't very aware of other stories than the ones from Underworld.

They accomplished a great deal, but the "news of the day" back when we were in Achaia was still the adventures of their sister, Helen, a woman of surpassing beauty who got passed back and forth between selfish royalty who were willing to start a major war over her unasked-for affections.

Frankly, that family had the worst luck, and coming from me that's saying something.
