Come see a Star War

Okay, I have all three Star Wars movies on... something called VHS. And I've found the machine to play them. So the plan is to watch them today. Find out what's in them, exactly.

I wouldn't mind some company if anyone's up for a... movie night, I think they say?

The general impression I get is that it'll show you a lot of that. Or at least what it was like during the war.

My parents are Han Solo and Leia Organa.

[On the one hand, that's... On the other hand, if you'd told her that vampires exist and are among us fifteen years ago she wouldn't have believed it either. Or that you can be abducted to weird world changing continua like this one.]

Well, you definitely don't show up in the films.

From what I'm told, the films stop at Endor. I was born five and a half standard years after that.

[So of course she's not in them]

Dad and Uncle Luke were here until recently.

I only came here a week ago, so they probably left before I arrived.

So you're looking to see how accurate they are?

Yeah, you just missed them.

From what I hear, they're accurate, but I'm not clear on what did and didn't make it in. A lot happened in the years they cover.

...Does that happen a lot, that the world and history of a traveller are a fictional story in the world of other travellers or worlds we visit?

It's happened at least one other time that I know about. So you gotta figure it's happened to everyone somewhere.

I guess not having been born yet for the fictional adaptation’s timeframe is the best way to show up in them.

[She'd certainly not want people to watch a film on her life, especially not with her as the protagonist. Whatever genre that would even be.]

Besides, there are lots of holodramas at home about all of that. It sounds like these might be more accurate than a lot of those.

Where should I come for this movie night, and when?

Apparently pretty popular ones. People have known about them from a bunch of different worlds.

They stop before I was born. But they're about my family.

That would make them tangentially about you...?

I suppose it's nice that they're popular? Your family must be very interesting people!

There are a lot of holodramas at home about the stuff the movies cover. Some of them are even accurate.

[Is there some other weird thing to Star Wars she doesn't know about?]

Yeah, Lucas redid them once way back in the nineties, and again when they finally came out on DVD. Different special effects, different music, they gave the big hole in the ground in Jedi a weird beak thing, probably some deleted scenes?

Every time I think I have this all figured out... you mean the Sarlaac?

[That's the only thing she can think of around Endor that would be a "weird hole in the ground"]

Probably. I haven't seen the movie in years.

I've never seen them at all, so I guess we're going to find out.
