Oh festering boils! Why is counting days so hard in Liminal? I think that since we’re here in a world like this, I’m going to need some advice.

[There’s a little bit of a pause.] I should probably send this just to the people who’d be willing and able to help, shouldn’t I? Oops! Give me a moment.

[When the psychic contact picks up again Pod has made an attempt to private it only to the women among the Travelers. However, it’s far from a perfect attempt, and she only has Psychic Protection I anyway. Eavesdrop away, oh unlucky or curious male Travelers.]

So, my courses have come unexpectedly and I know worlds like this have ways to manage the bleeding that my world never would have thought of. The problem is that I don’t really know much about these tampons and things.

I know that most of you are from worlds more like this one than mine is so could somebody give me advice? At this rate I’m going to have to wash the rags before I can get back into Liminal on my own and I really don’t want to try to answer the questions it’d bring up if someone saw.

The things I'm used to aren't quite what's here either. But this stuff's not bad. THe pads and tampons here are supposed to just get thrown out. So you could just make them go away in liminal.

The boxes have a lot of information on them, but I have no idea which is important information and which is the hawking of wares to get people to buy them.

It does seem like a bit of a waste to just throw them out, but in a place of plenty like this, I can see why. I'm not sure they'd hold together with a washing...

Tampons are kind of a pain for first time users. Honestly, I just mostly used them for swimming or if I had to dress up nicely back in my world. Pads are pretty easy to use. They're like rags that you just can throw out and they stick nicely to your underwear.

There's a few more options in my time? Rubber cups that I could never get the hang of and, uh, reusable cloth pads that you can just put in the washing machine. Sort of.

Where are you? I can grab a pack of pads from the drugstore and bring them to you.

In these clothes, they'll work nicely, I think, but I'm not sure how well they'd work with my usual underthings. Rubber cups though?

Reusable ones seem like they'd be a good idea. These throwaway ones seem a bit wasteful. I understand why, but still...

[There's a pause.]

I'm in Wilton. Or rather, on the way there from the festival grounds. I looked at the boxes in the store before, but decided I wouldn't need them while I was here.

[deadpan] I think perhaps someone cursed me.

Oh right, you're from somewhere quasi-medieval, so underthings for you is like a shift. In that case learning how to tampon might be good.

Rubber cups, yeah. Like I said, I've never been able to get the hang of wearing them. But maybe one of the other women from my time has?

Uh-huh, and my drawers aren't nearly as close to the skin as these underwear are. I could probably wear these under my breeches, if I had a few more pair though. So I'll try everything and see what works best, I guess.

I'm going to guess that it's meant to catch the blood? That sounds better than using cloth to soak it up, and with a washing I bet it can be used many times. I hope someone knows about them; they sound very convenient.

Yeah. But hey, if nothing else, next time we're in the 21st century, one of us can buy one for you.

[Pod’s mental voice sounds amused.]

So it will come down to patience. I’ve never been very good at patience.

But until then I’ll try these pads and tampons. Do you know which are the best? When I took a look there were so many different kinds.

Personally, I like the ones with wings. They stay on better in your underwear.

[Pod giggles, and it comes through in her mental voice when she responds.]

Okay, I know what you mean but what flashed through my head was the feathered kind and that would tickle terribly!

Oh, definitely. Or they'd, uh.

[No wait she is not talking about that with someone in high school. Or high school age. Whatever.]

They'd what?

[Asked oh so innocently, even if Pod thinks she has an idea.]

[AND SHE SLAMS THAT PRIVACY DOWN.]

Sometimes grown adults use feathers for, uh, adult things. And that is all I am going to say about that.

Oh, you mean bedding? I can't quite see how feathers would improve things really, but I've heard of stranger.

[Pod laughs.]

You don't need to worry about my innocence though! It's sweet of you to try to be considerate, but humans aren't that different from beasts when it comes down to it, and I am a Beast Healer.

Uh. Just trust me.

[WAIT NO. OKAY. THIS TIME SHE IS REALLY SHUTTING UP.]

Alright. I'll trust you.

[She's still giggling a little, but willing to let it drop. Non-Beast Healers probably wouldn't find the stories as funny as she does.]
