Sara here with some stuff you should know about being a small fuzzy animal.

First off, humans here hunt and trap animals. Not to be jerks or anything, just for the reasons that humans anywhere do - for food or for fur and leather. But they probably think the Forest Folk are just from stories and don't know the difference, and the locals want to keep it that way for some reason (which might be why we're here), so be vewy vewy qwiet when wandering around the woods.

This goes for Humanvestigators as well as Furvestigators. The pastel fuzzy guys will probably panic if they see you and they aren't one of us.

Second, I ran into Probably Gil. He's a honey badger, he don't give a damn, his name is Gilligan Reed here, and he made it his personal mission to find new fuzzy friends and warn them everything I've just said in a Royal We about the Forestfolk. I don't know if he's in charge but he's important.

Third, Forestfolk are starting to go dumb and stupid. Feral's the word they use. Probably real high on the list of stuff we have to fix. It's a handy excuse for not having parents, among other things.

Last off, Forestfolk names are usually just normal ones or oldtimey ones plus dumb puns, and what kind of animal you are for a last name. So I'm introducing myself as Sara Shetland.

You mean some of the investigators got turned into animals? Sounds like I just dodged a bullet.

I mean, it makes sense. If the Forestfolk won't talk to humans about the stuff we need to help them with, then some of us ought to show up as folk that they will talk to.

The Arcana are dumb and cheat but they never make a Jaunt unwinnable. They want us to succeed at doing the stuff they send us to do.

I can't say I mind being a pony if it's just for the Jaunt, anyway. Ponies are cool.

Okay, so... what do we need to help people with, and who are we helping? I didn't exactly get a mission briefing.

Part of it is figuring it out. Part of it is figuring out which Arcana are in the contest and what they want.

I'm backing whichever one is into helping people even if this means fighting against my ruling Arcana, though. Which I probably won't have to if it's The Fool this round, at least.

And I'm pretty sure that at least one of them wants us to stop the Forestfolk from going feral, whatever that means we actually need to do.

Considering how very kid's cartoon this place is, start by figuring out how true those faerie tales they're telling at the faerie fair are?

Since it sounds like we've been here before, we might be able to figure out what to do now based on what happened last time, but that depends on the people who were here then getting a chance to figure out just what that was. The answer could be 'do that again' or it could be 'anything but that.'

Especially if we can compare it to the stories at the festival. Figuring out the difference between the legends and what really happened can help a lot.

That depends on how quickly they can uncover details, if at all. [Naoki knows there's a way to do it - it's how Naoto uncovered an entire adventure they'd been made to forget - but not how widespread it is among the Moebius survivors, and it's not something he can do himself.]

It can't be rushed, but if we can make sense of the bits and pieces they do have, that'll help.

Even knowing what sticks out as important could help, or what bugs them cause it's different.

I will focus my investigation on why forest-folk are turning feral. It might be good to see if anything similar is happening with the Stonefolk.

We do need to coordinate on aliases, though. I'm sharing a body with a girl named Riva Rabbit, so I don't really have a choice on it.

Far as I'm aware, it's always been a thing. Just got a whole lot more common maybe a thousand years ago. But they worked out how t'reverse it not too long ago.

That sounds stupid, but it might be appropriate.

Also Bob's investigating and he says he refuses to be 'Bob Bird'.

And Casper is fine, go with a breed if you want but Canine probably works.

...the regular animals don't speak and tend to have duller colors. Forest Folk are starting to go dumb, though. Even so, if it speaks or wears clothes and uses tools better than a rock, it's a Forest Folk.
